Da Vinci's Secret
60Out - Hollywood
Escape room
IRL
I rate this room a 4/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). A MOST awesome GM named Alex agreed to let us do this one after we escaped the MOST excellent Wizard's Treasure room. The set and theme were average and flowed well together. Some pretty novel and creative puzzles that we'd never seen before. Alex provided just the right amount of encouragement through the game so we never needed to ask for a hint. The unexpected ending was the best part! P.S. Drink lots of water ahead of time because you'll want to check out the bathroom for additional fun! 😉

I easily rate this room a 5/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). First off, best GM ever! Alex was welcoming, friendly and very enthusiastic about the rooms which made us all the more excited to begin. But not before we discovered a treasure in the bathroom! And in the lobby! Great warm-up for our room. The set and theme were wonderfully executed. The 'wow' moments were plenty. Solid puzzles including a couple we hadn't seen before. I enjoyed every minute of this room, so much so that we begged for a second one after we were done!

I rate this room a 3/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). The set matched the spooky serial killer theme perfectly. There were a couple fun surprises provided by our sneaky GM and a cool tech adventure. The puzzles were easy to medium in difficulty and nothing we hadn't seen before. I enjoyed the room well enough, therefore, would consider this an average escape room.

Easy 5/5 room (ck out my bio for rating system). This was, by far, my favorite escape room I've done to date. Each category I rank on got more than 1 point in this surprise filled room. From the fantastic and intricately designed set along with it's charming theme to all the IYKYN additions (we hear you Christopher Walken), it did not disappoint in the least. There were quite a few novel puzzles and they were pretty intuitive so hints were never needed but the GM knew when to give a gentle nudge. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to doing more of their rooms.

THE BASEMENT: A Live Escape Room Experience - Sylmar

I rate this room a 4/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). The room got points for set and theme design which was totally immersive and realistic! The live actor was quite believable and added to the room in a positive way. I feel bad I didn't keep my pinky promise I made with her! 🤦♀️ There were some surprise elements and novel puzzles and I experienced more enjoyment than frustration while doing it. The reason it didn't get a perfect 5 was because there was some frustration - something was put in a wrong way but there was no indication it was wrong because it fit - and the dreadful 'hint system' if you'd even call it that. First they tell you there's no hints, then a lady starts shouting thru the wall trying to give you a hint. It just didn't match the quality of the room set. If you're not going to give hints, commit to that, don't do it the ghetto way. Even though I liked the escape experience overall, I didn't like their other room, The Elevator Shaft, and because of the hint system, or lack thereof, I won't be experiencing the rest of the rooms at this location.

I rate this room a 2/5 (ck out my bio for my rating system). I was anticipating a great room with the unexpected entrance to the facility and the decor and introduction video. I was a little worried when the host told us there'd be no hints but I figured it would be doable if they weren't offering hints. Even after initially seeing the impressive set, I was excited about doing it. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. This was the type of room where if you complete a puzzle, there's not clear indication that you completed it. So the result of a completed puzzle, i.e. key, might be floating around (literally!) somewhere but you have no idea to look for it because you're not sure you completed the puzzle in the first place, so then you waste time trying it again. I hate rooms like this! Then, even though they said there'd be no hints, some lady starts shouting at us from behind a wall telling us to look for this unexpected key and we can't even really hear what she's saying because it's noisy in the room. This did not match the production value of the room and really left a bad impression. If you're going to say there's no hints, commit to that instead of doing it the ghetto way and shouting thru a wall! The few puzzles there were, weren't anything special but I was so frustrated about not knowing if we completed a puzzle, the only thing that the room got points for (2 pts) was the set and theme. Luckily, we did The Courtyard after which was better but still... The hint system... Ridiculous. Apparently there's a storyline between all the rooms but, due to all of the above, I'm left uninterested in discovering it. Side note: I'm slightly claustrophobic but was ok with the amount of space. Technically, you don't really have to do the more claustrophobic part if you have someone in your party who's more comfortable with that. In addition, you don't really get wet, maybe only a drop or two.

I give this room a 4/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). The set design/theme was awesome! I know you're thinking, how can I comment on the set design when I couldn't see it but vision is not the sense I'm referring to here! Having to feel the set was a very unique experience and made it all the more enjoyable. My rating was based on the novelty of the room being in complete darkness and the way they created puzzles to move you through the experience. Very creative and enjoyable! That being said, I wouldn't go running to find another complete darkness type of escape room - the puzzles are easy and basically just a hunt and find concept - but I would recommend to try at least once. Take caution though, it truly is black in there. My hubby ended up with a battle wound from a hasty head motion!

This room had some great novel clues that I hadn't seen in the 38 rooms I've done as well as a few jumpy surprises. The set and theme were clean and well put together. One clue required a third person which the GM warned us about ahead of time so we were instructed how to do it but the rest was easily done with just the two of us. The room flowed well without us spending too much time on any one clue. Quite enjoyable!

Red Door Escape Room - Oxnard

The first part with the carnival games was fun and light. Almost made me think the room was going to be easy and we'd escape quickly. This changed in the middle and we ended up barely escaping! So don't let it fool you! This is a tricky but fun room! I didn't enjoy the last puzzle - was just a little too complicated for my taste - but overall, it was a fun experience.
