Le Château du Supplice Éternel [The Castle of Eternal Suffering]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRL9/10 Now THIS is an escape room for the puzzle lovers out there. I would easily rank this the best escape room game in all of Canada. Unbelievable puzzle elements, exceptional tech, absolutely incredible set pieces, tech, lights, sound design, and immersion. Numerous puzzles and hands on gameplay that I have never seen anywhere else. Sauve Qui Peut prioritized tactile gameplay. Every puzzle is hands on with immense satisfaction. The horror element isn’t much. It’s more for immersion and to set the mood rather than scare tactics. I put it at 6/10 on a horror scale. I see a higher rating on the TERPECA list once more people get to experience this wonderful gem of a game.
MagnificoEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRL9/10 Magnifico is in fact Magnificent. BUT, to the competitive puzzle players, the enthusiasts who enjoy time under pressure, the thrill-seekers looking to be left to their own devices within the confines of a mysterious room, Magnifico will need a different mindset. Think less escape room and more immersive theater with a slow-burn-guided-puzzle-tour. You spend every second of the 150 minutes in the room. So don’t expect your quick thinking and puzzle solving skills to push you through the experience any faster. Again, think more slow-burn-guided-puzzle-tour with A LOT of character interaction, which can feel a bit like hand holding at times. It’s an amazing slow paced experience, not what I would put at TERPECA #1 though.

La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRL9/10 The Forgotten Cathedral should change its name to The Unforgettable Cathedral because it’s an experience you will carry with you for ever. The production is cinematic, the story is beautifully weaved throughout, the puzzles are a perfect balance of challenging/originality/fun/satisfying, and the sheer size of the space is completely jaw dropping. This is by far one of the best escape room experiences in North America.
漆黒の悟り [Shadow Zen]Studio Escape Daikoku-choEscape roomIRL7/10 Shadow Zen is a beautiful experience with Studio Escape managing to pack immersive set pieces within the confines of their limiting space. Their puzzles, original and satisfying, never feel out of place and always fit to theme. A room this is intimate should be played with 2 players so you can experience everything together. 3 would be pushing it, for there isn’t a whole lot to explore or do. More experienced players can easily cruise through this room in 30 minutes or less, so I would recommend doing your best to take your time and enjoy the set pieces. This is a great game if you happen to find yourself in Osaka. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the trip on the Shinkansen from Tokyo just to play it. Does it deserve its 95th spot on the 2024 TERPECA listing? I would say yes. But it might not make the list for 2025.

The story is original, the puzzles are brilliant, and the experience is so immersive, when it ends, you will be shocked that it was all a game. Can’t wait to come back and play it again.
Dark LullabyEscape Artist Greenville - Hampton StationEscape roomIRL8/10 Escape Artist Greenville know how to scare you because this room got the hairs on my back standing on end multiple times. This room will keep a small group busy with its puzzles, have you on your toes the entire experience, and surprise you in the most excellent ways.
The Lost Treasure Of Alexander Von HumboldtThe RoomEscape roomIRL9/10 Another phenomenal experience by The Room. Puzzles were the perfect balance of challenging and intuitive. The atmosphere was unbelievable and the room expands in unexpected ways. Be prepared to be wowed again and again!

Fun puzzles, great interactions, wonderful use of the space. Go in, get weird, have fun, and enjoy this amazing thrill ride.
