We didn’t click with every puzzle and needed some pointers (we tried to get more of these clues once we realised the fabulous way they were being delivered). We still loved it though. The set design and immersion were brilliant and we really felt like we were sinking the Titanic. Our GM was super friendly and happily chatted about the game afterwards. We talked about how bad we are at searching and she pointed out all the little nuggets we’d missed. No wonder we found some puzzles tricky. Still brilliant though.
Mission Galactique [Galactic Mission]Majestic Escape Game ParisEscape roomIRLJust wow. This absolutely blew us away. The design, the hosting, the game play, the whole experience. We weren’t expecting this but it was so much fun and we were just busy from the start to the exciting finale. I normally avoid character interactions but this one was short and fun so don’t let that put you off. A brilliant experience!
Space AlertEscape ProdEscape roomIRLAnother fabulous room at this location. The theme is beautifully realised and evident in every puzzle. The puzzles were varied in difficulty and style, and we found this worked to our advantage. This room requires a good memory and some solid team communication, and there’s also a physical element for all team members. It was an absolute blast and we found ourselves taking it quite seriously during the final countdown. We’d highly recommend this fun game and we’d happily return to play their other games.
Brick WorldEscape ProdEscape roomIRLThis room was so much fun. The bricks theme was present throughout every puzzle and kept us totally engaged for a full hour. A couple of easier puzzles and some trickier ones but every one different and enjoyable. You might struggle here if you’re colour blind and it was a little more active than normal but I’m totally unfit and I managed. We thoroughly enjoyed this room and would highly recommend it.
The Comic Book Investigation [Outdoor]Mystery Bag BrusselsEscape roomIRLA really wonderful way to explore a new city. We found ourselves up little alley ways, inside public buildings and standing in grand squares. It was brilliant for this. The puzzles themselves were a little on the easy side but the bag and its contents were of very high quality. Everything about the experience related back to the theme, including the buildings we visited, which tied everything together beautifully. It was a long experience at 2 hours. It involved a lot of walking on a very hot day with no time built in for a rest, a drink or a toilet break. I would recommend that you plan for these yourself if you book a city hunt. A really great way to see the city from a different viewpoint but overall not enough puzzling for me.
NautilusEnygmaEscape roomIRLSqueezed this is on a whim and so glad we did. The GM was so friendly and engaging. The room had a quirky start then kicked off. It is a beautifully designed space with lots of things that we were desperate to touch. It took a while to find our rhythm and work out the puzzles were a little easier than we were making them but once we got going it was absolutely brilliant. There were some new puzzles and some things we weren’t expecting. It is a lot for 2 people but they are kind enough to give pairs a little extra time. We hadn’t allowed for the extra time so had to run off to our next game which was such a shame as we didn’t have time to talk through the game with the lovely host. It was so atmospheric and just fun, and we’d highly recommend it.

The DomeMama BazookaEscape roomIRLAn unassuming building in an industrial estate hides an incredible experience. The waiting area is the finest I’ve seen with a host of games to play and a great wee bar to keep you fed and watered. I didn’t know to expect and hadn’t read ahead. I’m unsure if this was wise. Maybe I wouldn’t have done this room if I’d read about it. I’m not going to give any spoilers so I’ll just say it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever done. I’m still not really sure what I did or why. I’ve watched the video of our progress back and I still don’t know what I did or why. I have no idea how things happened but I do know I laughed a lot, had an amazing time and would highly recommend this experience to others. To be clear this is an experience and not an escape room. Bring as many people as you can find and have an unforgettable experience of your own.
Wake Up!QuestomaticaEscape roomIRLI really enjoyed this room. The theme was just the right side of creepy and I felt we were busy the whole time. The game flowed well and I found the use of light and sound as a guide to be brilliant. A couple of new puzzles and a new lock (which always pleases me) and some unique props which totally engaged us.
The ArchitectSherlockedEscape roomIRLA genuinely interesting theme that fits perfectly with the beautiful and atmospheric building. The huge space was sparsely decorated but that only helped with the flow as we weren’t being distracted by superfluous toot. I don’t think the puzzles were particularly challenging but they were fun and well suited to the theme. We loved the whole feel of the room and place, which is maybe why we’re forgiving of the amount of time we spent (wasted) playing on old tech and completing unnecessary puzzles. It just didn’t matter and every minute was fun.
Carnival CrisisClue CollectorsEscape roomIRLSuch a fun experience. The host and owner was a joy who happily talked about her rooms and her passion for creating experiences. The room is beautifully decorated and was just fun to be in. The puzzles were a real mix of easier and quite challenging plus there were some excellent physical and skill challenges that even us old dolls could manage. We came here specially for this room but will happily come back to do the others.
Outatime - Through the DecadesEscapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLAn outstanding experience from start to finish. Wonderful decoration and theming throughout the room. There was a great mix of puzzles in terms of difficulty level and type, and we each got turns to feel a little slow or a bit smug. Our GM was as wonderful as last time we visited and was so kind and accommodating in helping us arrange a future visit with their special guest. We’d highly recommend this room and can’t wait to return.
Doctor Who: A Dalek AwakensEscape Hunt - London Oxford StreetEscape roomIRLThe hosting was fine and the location is inside the Boom Bar, similar to other locations. The game itself was disappointing. It looked fab but there really was no substance to it. There just wasn’t enough to do. There weren’t enough puzzles and I’m pretty sure the company knew that so they passed the time by having you stand still (literally having you freeze), giving no idea of what to do next or letting you play with puzzles that weren’t able to be solved yet. The tech also lets it down with some being a bit overused and janky. I think this could be a decent room with some tweaks. The decor is good, and the Dalek and voice over pleased the Dr Who fan amongst us but the puzzles need some attention.
Pavilion PerplexPier PressureEscape roomIRLWonderful experience all round. The folks here are super welcoming and friendly and made us feel right at home. The game looked beautiful and had the elements of a Victorian Manor House. We found this a difficult room and probably wouldn’t have made it out of it wasn’t for the clues provided via the fantastic clue system. We never ask for clues because we’re stubborn but this system made it ok for us to ask. We will look forward to returning to this location as I think we’ve still to find our favourite game here and they offer collectibles!We’d highly recommend this room in the meantime. Just don’t overthink it too much.
Hut 17Cipher EscapeEscape roomIRLExceptional. We visited immediately after a pretty poor experience somewhere else and in the middle of a heatwave. We had to take an Uber and found ourselves in the middle of an industrial estate,an hour early and with frustration and heat exhaustion starting to take over. We went into the go karting building, which is joined onto Cipher Escape, where we enjoyed big fans and cold drinks before an an unassuming young man approached us and said he was Lincoln our GM and would take us into Cipher Escape because it was air conditioned. We followed him next door and the fun began. I won’t give spoilers but will just say go and do this fabulous room. It is atmospheric, challenging, surprising and just fun. Lincoln continued to blow us away with his hosting. Yes he was totally engaging and clearly loves his wonderful room, but it was the thoughtful touches like he moved us into the cooler room even though he had prepared a different room prior to our arrival. He offered refreshments and free snacks! He talked through every aspect of the room and our successes and failures in relation to the puzzles. The room is tough but every second was a joy. We got to do new puzzles and use new props, and everything felt authentic to the theme. Again, an exceptional experience.
A Grand Way OutLocked In A Room Milton KeynesEscape roomIRLThis game was really cute and had authentic decor and theming. There were some great puzzles but a few took a leap of logic. Maybe we just missed the signposting but felt we were standing around not knowing what to do next for quite a bit of time. To be fair there were a couple of brilliant puzzles that we thoroughly enjoyed. We felt the hosting was poor though. The member of staff let us in was really pleasant but the GM was completely lacking in any enthusiasm or engagement. The tone was strange from the outset where we were put in a room with another team where we were given a number and received a joint briefing. We were then referred to as ‘team 3’ throughout. This was even written on our certificate on completion. I really think they ought to consider a staggered start, individual briefings, using team names and some chat after the game. All that aside, it really is a fun game.
School Of MagicLocked In GlasgowEscape roomIRLWe had a lot of fun in this room but overthought some of the lovely puzzles. No problem as Carly was able to jump in and refocus us after we’d wasted just the right amount of time. Carly was a super GM who was very encouraging and chatted enthusiastically with us after we escaped. The decor was great, there were fun puzzles and plenty of different locks to crack. There was plenty to keep us busy for the full time. We’re sad that we’ve only 2 rooms left here but we heard some rumours that there’s positive news afoot. I hope it’s true!
The Lost DragonLakes Escapes LtdEscape roomIRLA super wee company that showcases originality and brilliant puzzling. This linear room has us scratching our heads and being pleasantly surprised when we figured something out. We needed a wee poke now and then to help us along but everything made perfect sense. It’s always a joy to come across new puzzles and this room gave us several. We loved them all.
No Place Like GnomeLakes Escapes LtdEscape roomIRLA really fun and interesting game. So many things to do. Some of them a little challenging and some of them so obvious that they slap you in the face while you just ignore them. We were busy to the end and loved that we could work alone or together, and try to work to our strengths. A lovely venue with a great, chilled atmosphere and game.
The BunkerEscape Stirling - ArcadeEscape roomIRLReturned to Escape Stirling expecting a fun time as usual but this far exceeded our expectations. Garry was a wonderful GM who engaged us in escape room chat from the outset. He was a joy to talk with and his sense of humour is stamped all over this room. I don’t want to spoil this room for any one so will just say it’s absolutely brilliant. It is hard and we required extra time to get out. We’re not very observant though and kept missing obvious things including hints. It’s a great mix of linear and nonlinear, and much of it takes actual teamwork. It is full of humour, amazing tech and puzzling fun that entertains completely from start to finish. We’ll leave it a few months and go back and do it again. Garry deserves all the plaudits for this room. You can see the love of escape rooms, intelligence and humour in every aspect. I hope he is able to design and create new challenges. Soon. We’ll be first in the queue.
