Kraken's Revenge at Kelpstone NarrowsPuzzle Theory - MiddletownEscape roomIRLThis is an amazing game, and easily my favorite at PT so far! We are so glad we saved this for last on our 5 game day with PT. There were some elements triggered here that I'd never seen in an escape room and I won't say too much - but they were impressive! The set was so beautifully done and the puzzles were intuitive enough that we didn't need any hints. There was one puzzle that was a little vague but we figured it out easily enough. The ending left me a bit confused (I missed a bit of instruction, apparently lol), but it was still enjoyable and a fun ending!
Jungle 2: The Next DimensionPuzzle Theory - South WindsorEscape roomIRLOur second game of the day with PT and we loved this game. I've always been entranced by Jumanji, and within our board game collection live a couple versions of it, so to be transported to a big game based on it was wonderful. We loved the mini games, and we enjoyed the little dance break that happened every few minutes or so when progressing. Speaking of progressing - absolutely loved that these games had a progress bar. We're stubborn at wanting hints (ask what gm's hurt us... lol) so we love knowing we're on track or if we've fallen behind and could really use one. I don't think we ever had to ask for one in this room.
P.T. Railways: Spectral RiftPuzzle Theory - South WindsorEscape roomIRLWe spent my birthday playing 5 games at Puzzle Theory, and this is where we started. We enjoyed this game and it's theme, and loved the immersive decor. Our team of 2 needed a couple small nudges, as we were a bit "behind" according to their progress bar, but ended up out with a bit of time to spare. The way that they have the puzzles for alternating versions labeled is clear, so you don't waste time on a puzzle you don't need. We'd love to come back to do the other version of this game one day - along with their other games we missed that day.
The Wizard RealmPuzzle Theory - South WindsorEscape roomIRLOur 3rd room of the day here and another great room. The decor was immersive and we enjoyed the puzzles, though we absolutely spent WAY too much time on something that was a red herring. Luckily with our experience we know to revisit a puzzle if it's not making much sense and not to waste too much time. We were offered a nudge when we were really stuck, but with a look at the progress bar, we decided to decline the nudge and eventually found what we were missing. We escaped in 39 minutes with 2 players in this room and no hints. Solid wizardy room if you like these themes!
Defenders of the GalaxyPuzzle Theory - MiddletownEscape roomIRLOur 4th PT game of the day after a small drive over from the other location. This was probably my least favorite of the day, as spacey themes just never seem to be my favorite. But the puzzles were pretty intuitive, and we knew when we were missing something and to revisit. The set design was wonderful like all the other PT games and both GMs we had that day were great.
Superhero's AdventureAll In Adventures - North Attleborough [prev. Mystery Room]Escape roomIRLWe were in the neighborhood and we had previously purchased the $80 yearly pass. We knew from years ago what to expect here, so for the price we paid, we weren't expecting a big production. In this room in particular, there are lots of pieces of paper with vague clues. The power of observation greatly helped in this room. We did ask for a little nudge at one point. I will say the GM we have had at this location both times we've visited this year has been great.
Only Murders in the Building The Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLWe were very glad to be able to make it to this room while we were in town for work. I would say, due to this being a limited run game, it seemed like some pieces were a little more "temporary" feeling than their standard games. This was a little on the tougher side for the 2 of us, but we only needed 1 hint and scraped by with about 4 minutes to spare!
Legend of the YetiThe Escape Game - NYC Times SquareEscape roomIRLAnother really great game by The Escape Game. This is our favorite franchise for many reasons. The set quality is superb, and the puzzles here were great fun. The 2 of us did get out with about 20 minutes to spare, with no hints, so it was on the easier side for us. Every staff member we interacted with was a delight.
Monster in the MuseumRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLWe were the second group to play the room, and this room was a blast! On the day of game, we teamed up with another pair of enthusiasts visiting from FL to tackle this beast. I absolutely loved the subtle nods to local places, which we already knew the Riddle Room did well, having done the Rocky Point game in the past. The puzzles were so fun in this room, and the props were super cool. There is one particular puzzle that we started with that was my favorite - they took a type of puzzle that we've done before and made it feel completely new with how it was laid out, and it was super fun. The puzzles all flowed very well, and we progressed really smoothly through the game. Loved the ending and what we needed to do to complete the room. Our actors were very fun to interact with both in the room and chatting with them after the game, and the GM's that checked us in in the lobby were awesome to chat with as well. Thanks for catching us up on our missing stamps!! I think there's a little room to grow in this room, as the space is large - but having seen all of Riddle Room's other rooms, and having heard about the changes in the last couple of years to their other rooms, I think this room will probably evolve along the way. But as is, this game is already great!
Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLWe finished out the Boxaroo trio with this room and boy we were glad to have saved this for last. This is a wonderful room full of adventure and wonder. We had a blast in this room, the puzzles were unique and the scenery was lovely.
The Wedding Party [Mystery Dinner Experience] - Closing Nov 15Secret CityEscape roomOther We had a lovely evening at the reception! We enjoyed a good excuse to dress up. The puzzles were fun, the actors were wonderful, and food was great!
Mystery of the Magician's StudyBoxarooEscape roomIRLWe had done one of the rooms here a while back and were very overdue to complete the other 2 rooms. We stayed overnight after the DroneArt show nearby, and had lots of time before The Wedding Party this evening. We were happy to see Boxaroo in partnership with Green Door Labs and mentioning each other. This room was great. There were many unique puzzles and though we've done a magician themed room elsewhere, this was completely different from the other.
The Boobie TrapTrapology BostonEscape roomIRLThe first room was a bit nerve-wracking, but eventually we made gained some traction and got moving. The puzzles and props were certainly unique here. Some puzzles were on the tougher side, but we made it out with a couple of nudges. We found this room to be pretty humorous and enjoyed ourselves!
MagnificoEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLIt's crystal clear why this has been rated #1 in the world for a couple years now. This was just room after room after room of pure excitement, thrill, and joy! Every time you move to the next room here you're in a completely different place. The puzzles were excellent and the actors did an impeccable job. Really truly top notch. The set design left me in awe time after time.
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLHoly moly... this room was insane. Definitely spooky but I mostly just felt awestruck at the decor at all times. The intro was really fun and the game was great, as we enjoyed all of the puzzles. I really liked the tools you use in the first part of the game as we hadn't used anything similar.
L'Île perdue de la Reine Vaudou [The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis game had very solid and fun puzzles, and again the set design here was immaculate. The way to interact with your GM in this one was very funny. I will say that there are a lot of tripping hazards on this one. Beware of your surroundings as there are steps up and down that are kind of "hidden" (they blend in well) and there's a "tricky" area once you get to the 2nd room.
Armoire à Vendre [Wardrobe for Sale]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLWell this room is absolutely spectacular - especially the first half of it in particular. The magic is real and we fell head over heels for a character in this story! The puzzles were fun and whimsical and wonderful. Our GM was just fantastic here. I felt in awe of my surroundings for almost all of the game.
Le Dernier Arrêt - V2 [The Final Stop - V2]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThe set design here was impeccable and I really enjoyed this one. Though as others have mentioned, there is an area that may cause a bit of motion sickness. I was feeling a bit iffy at some points, but made it through just fine. The thing is that while the stuff is happening to create the motion sickness, you are working on the hardest puzzles of them all. There were a couple in this section that felt super tough, even for a group of 6 experienced escapers. Very fun actor interactions in this one.
Le Blind Tiger [The Blind Tiger]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLBefore visiting, I knew the name of this game was familiar. But we were with a group of 6 players total going through all the games at Escaparium Laval, so we joined in this one as well to check if it was the same as one we had already played. Upon entering the room we realized this was indeed the case - we had played this game already at Expedition Escape in PA. Had we seen a photo of the inside of the room ahead of time, we would have been able to confirm this. We wished there had been mention of this on the website somewhere as we have heard that some games do have repeats in other locations. That being said, it IS a solid game if you haven't played it before, but we played pretty recently and remembered almost all of the puzzles. So 2 of our group of 6 just kind of stepped back here and helped the others along without actively solving things.
Le Jubilé d'Or [The Golden Jubilee]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis was a fun game, though it felt a little short compared to other games at Escaparium. There is very immersive and beautiful decor, and puzzles we had not done before elsewhere.
