Extreme Escape - Colonnade
Escape room
IRL
I did this room with my family right after having done one of their other experiences earlier that day. The first room we did was ‘okay’ (Hallows Eve), so I was a bit hesitant going into this room, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The puzzles made sense and the game flowed pretty linear, and the atmosphere and setting was very well done. Right off the bat I felt immersed because of some of the tech they had in the room. We had one tech issue where a light wasn’t turning on which wasted about 5 minutes of our time, but we still escaped and overall had a good experience. I ranked it #21 out of the 50 escape rooms I’ve done. This room had a couple of fresh unique moments that I look for when trying new escape experiences. I’d say it’s like a 7/10 experience IMO and is a safe bet to book if you’re looking for a fun room. We got out with 14 1/2 minutes remaining.

I think the room had a good aesthetic, and I liked the lighting and atmosphere quite a bit. The props were neat, and it had a spooky vibe. There are jump scares, but it’s mainly reliant on being loud more than anything for the most part. We had 2 technical issues, one of which required a total of 3 staff members to come in and try and fix it. They were unable to fix it, so they had to tell us how to solve it, but the issues caused us time delays since we tried that step earlier but it didn’t work, and we needed to solve it to move on. The puzzles didn’t really flow together in succession, so it felt a bit messy when we proceeded to each additional step and didn’t know what to do next. We needed them to tell us what to do 2 or 3 separate times, 1 of which led us to realizing one of their props was broken. The others felt a bit messy, as I stated and I need to ask them when I’m back later tonight. The game master also mentioned that we didn’t need to check a huge prop because it ‘didn’t really have anything on it’, so we ignored it, but it was mainly a red herring. There was vital things we needed on it. That’s probably still on us though for not confirming until nearly 15 minutes in. This was my 49th escape room and it didn’t really offer anything I hadn’t seen. It was enjoyable, and I do think most groups would have a good time playing it, and I think groups would jump or be spooked, but I’d personally give it a 4/10 and ranks 31/49 on my escape room list. Im doing another one of their rooms tonight, and I’m hoping it’s a better experience.
