Room 172
Exit 4 - Toms River
Escape room
IRL
The game was puzzle focused and themed very well. The final puzzle was quite frankly awful and led to a very unsatisfying conclusion, but the other puzzles were logical, original, and well thought out. It was really disappointing to have the experience fall short like it does at the end.

Walking in the building, my group was told this was the hardest room they offer and we probably would fail to escape. We finished the entire room with over half the time remaining and zero clues. My group of four stayed on the same team per the employee’s recommendation, however split up working on puzzles. Two people worked on one puzzle for the entire room, and the other two were able to finish every other puzzle during that time. The puzzles felt uninspired and weren’t very interesting in my opinion. I was looking forward to this room after reading all the good reviews, but I left there feeling like I had just been robbed of $30.

If this room had good puzzles it would be one of the best I’ve ever played. The set design was incredible and expansive. They used the space they had really well. That’s about where the good things stop and the only reason the room doesn’t get a thumbs down. The puzzles had no flow and many were just straight up frustrating to complete. The final puzzle especially was annoying. It was a good concept in theory, but was incredibly repetitive and I found myself wanting to just get out of there and go home.

I was so excited for this room based on the story alone and played right when it opened. I was met with what looked like an unfinished set, an unenthusiastic game master who straight up told me the solution to a puzzle before I even got in the room, and puzzles that didn’t flow well and were really boring to complete. Based on other reviews, it might be possible that they were still ironing out some kinks in the game when I played as it had just opened, but considering it was open to the public I was very disappointed. The story is told through two main characters, although I couldn’t hear a word they were saying as it was so quiet. I had no idea what was going on story-wise throughout the entire game and I had no idea what my goal was.

Escape Experience - Nashville

The beginning of this room is really good. The set looks awesome and it has some really fun puzzles. Once you move on, however, the puzzles get less and less logical and more and more boring. It felt like 90% of the time and budget went into the first 15 minutes of the room. The final puzzle especially was annoying. It made sense, but was such a time waster and repetitive having nothing to do with the story whatsoever. Our game master was barely paying attention to us it seemed and didn’t give us any helpful clues when we asked for them. She even walked through the wide open front door saying we didn’t get out. I told her I put the final code in, the light turned green, and the door was open, and asked why we didn’t escape. She had no answer, but still claimed we didn’t finish. I even straight up told her the final code, which she confirmed was correct, but somehow we didn’t escape. And yes, there was still ample time remaining on the clock when I put the code in. It was a very frustrating game experience and the absolute worst customer service I’ve experienced.

I had low expectations from the start when we walked in and nobody was there, not even an employee. We got no greeting and were hastily thrown into the room once they realized we were even there. The puzzles were all over the place and had no flow between them. They weren’t original nor logical and the whole experienced left a bitter taste in my mouth. Half the clues we received weren’t for the puzzle we were working on, but rather for something we had already done or not gotten to yet, not to mention one of them was flat out wrong (they gave us a code, unasked for mind you, and it didn’t work. They then sent a new clue with the correct code). And to top it all off we stepped into the room and were greeting with an open lock just laying on the ground next to a wide open box. Take your money to literally any other escape room in Nashville and you’ll have a better experience.
