AsylumEscape UEscape roomIRLThis room was super cool and had a part of the room where a live actor actually interacted with the game, which always adds an extra dose of immersion. The puzzles were hard, but that was expected and still satisfying.
Boxed UpKomnata QuestEscape roomIRLDefinitely one of the most unique concepts for an escape room I’ve done. Went super well thematically and puzzles were better than I expected for only being able to do puzzles while trapped in a box. Also really encouraged teamwork.
Deep Space5 WitsEscape roomOther I’m a sucker for anything space and this is the best space escape room I have ever done. The immersion is fantastic and they have puzzles that are pretty unique. I haven’t encountered puzzles like the ones in this room in really any other escape room that I’ve done. Fantastic room.
Drago's Castle5 WitsEscape roomOther The immersion factor at 5 Wits really is like no other escape room you will find. They put everything into making you feel like you are truly part of the room. That being said, this is an escape room that it seems as if they are trying to allow to be accessible for kids and the puzzles do reflect that. It’s a trade off - amazing immersion, puzzles are a little less challenging.
Escape from the TowerSecret City Adventures - Casa LomaEscape roomIRLI’ve done different escape rooms at Casa Loma and you really can’t beat the environment of it. Traversing through a castle during an escape room is undeniably cool. This one also incorporated puzzles better into it than other rooms I’ve done here, but also seemed to have less of a compelling story so you have trade offs.
Escape the Darkest HourMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThe theme for the room was good and had some super cool concepts in it, but felt like some of the puzzles were a bit too hard for a group of experienced escape room players. We were paired with many random people which could’ve hurt how well we communicated, so it’s possible it would be better with a group more familiar with each other.
Ghost LightMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLThe puzzles for the room were very cohesive and flowed very well. All of the puzzles made sense and mostly were able to be followed in a pretty linear path. They did a good job with the set design, but it isn’t the most immersive room and I would say that at times the plot of what we were supposed to be doing wasn’t super clear. It felt more of a room where you are doing the puzzles independently from the story. However, the puzzles were still good enough and there was enough wow moments to make it a good room.
Gold RushThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLEscape Game really can’t disappoint - they do what they do very well. Of all the rooms I’ve done though here I would say this is one of the weaker ones. The puzzles were still satisfying, but the theme didn’t seem to be as strong as in their other rooms.
Grandma's Masterplan60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLParts of this room were really cool and had fantastic set design and parts of it left something to be desired. It seems a bit imbalanced with parts of the game feeling a little more thrilling than other parts, but overall it was a good room.
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLWe came to this room after going to a bottomless brunch which I would not recommend as drunk adults had a hard time figuring it out. With that being said, the immersion factor of this was really cool and some of the tech used in the room was also very impressive.
