The Experiments of Dr. UrsaBig Bear Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThe gameplay certainly felt odd for my group of 5, particularly in terms of certain mechanics. We felt that this game could have been enjoyable, but at several points the experience was simply bad. Some puzzles had faded symbols that made them difficult to solve, and definitely need to be maintained after wear and tear. When we solved some puzzles, it took awhile to notice a new “element” that opened up. At a point where we got the lights to turn on in a separate room, instead of remaining on, they simply flickered and we were told to just use our flashlights in that room. We accidentally solved the final puzzle in a roundabout way and unfortunately missed out on quite a few elements of the room because of that. Our game master was pretty nonchalant and unexpressive, and communication was clunky. For example, when we asked for a hint, he had to pause the game and come into the room. Then he solved a puzzle for us without giving us a hint for it first. After solving it, he didn’t explain what we were missing. Other instructions he gave us on room elements were misheard by players and made the room more confusing, though that may have been our mistake. Overall I can see how this room could be fun, but it needs more upkeep and perhaps a better system for communication between players and the game master.
Dead AirJourney Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLMy group enjoyed this room! There were plenty of puzzles to keep all five of us busy the entire time and they were all interesting and varied. We enjoyed the premise and the non-linearity of the room.
