The Lock Room

The story for this escape room sounded promising and fun for a large-ish group of 8 but it was pretty disappointing for us. We competed as teams but we essentially stayed in place the entire experience. I don’t consider that a spoiler instead of a warning so you know what to expect and not feel deflated. The puzzles themselves were kind of ok. Our game master was funny and kind but the way this room is set up, he kind of had to hover a bit so it flows well but we didn’t really like that. If someone has to lead you to every answer then there’s a problem with your layout or flow. It has potential because the competition types of escape rooms are really a great idea… just not like this

This escape room concept was really creative and unique. We had fun with this one for sure. There were several moments that we were really pleasantly surprised and saw some things we hadn’t before. Absolutely go do this one. Our only small critique is that just about all of the puzzles/locks were mechanical (there wasn’t anything particularly high tech) and that can feel a bit boring (like ok enter a 4 digit code, now a 3 digit code, and now find a 4 letter word, etc) so theres that.

We completed this escape room with a group of 5 and had fun. The atmosphere was impressive, the game master was really fun, and we enjoyed most of the puzzles and experience. It wasn’t exactly a wow experience as I didn’t feel we had much to do with our group (as in not enough puzzles I guess?). It can be challenging to really engage medium to large groups but we’ve seen it done before. Ultimately, I definitely think it’s an escape experience worth trying out!

This is an amazing escape room experience. There is so much attention to detail and care that goes into theming; we were completely immersed from start to finish. The story is intriguing and there were no dull moments (our adrenaline was pumping and it was a great feeling). The puzzles flowed logically and connecting story to activity was effortless. The game masters were so helpful without being overbearing, humble, and creative. The escape room is offered in English and Spanish and elevates the idea of a “typical” escape room. We would recommend that this not be your first experience with escape rooms but it is very appropriate with some already under your belt. This is an absolute MUST DO; we recommend it highly!

This was our first room with this company and it was an awful experience. I'm surprised it doesn't have a lower rating on here/google. 1) The staff was very disconnected. When we were allowed to ask for a hint, we either didn’t get a response at all or they would just throw out the answer. Im pretty confident something was left out at the start of our game and they just defaulted to pushing a button (eventually). A game master can really help or hinder the experience and in this case; it was a major hindrance. These folks (on this day) were clearly here to do the bare minimum. 2) There were SOO many hazards (exposed nails/screws, splintered wood, etc.). Someone in our group cut their finger and I almost did a few times. Obviously the theme allows for moments with low visibility; so all care should be taken to ensure safety. How has no one noticed? 3) The flow of the puzzles were pretty silly. Those who don’t really do escape rooms may not see that - but these things should flow and make sense. It’s lazy story telling with something completely blatantly out of place and others so obscure that it would have been impossible to figure out. A lot of what we were required to do just didn’t make sense. This one was just all around bad. It was gifted to us as a surprise since we love escape rooms, but had we had a choice? We’d easily run the other way. I have zero confidence on their ability to execute a reputable escape room.

This place had so much potential and we anticipated the experience to be stellar. Sadly, that was the furthest from the truth. For the amount of money we paid for a private experience for 3 people, I wish I could go back and talk us out of it. The props and decor were spot on and the acting was pretty good too. But it really felt we were being rushed through the room(s) with zero care about the experience. We read someone enjoying it because it felt like it was a haunted house, but that isn’t what we came for. We came for an escape room experience and hardly got that. We don’t mind a spooky factor nor do we mind difficult puzzles but these were much more than that. Some of these were impossible under the conditions and amount of time we were given. Even with a larger group - some of these puzzles were unclear and impossible. There are also some hazards (like a surprise step causing a stumble) which isn’t super smart when fear is an added element. We were really just thoroughly disappointed and urge much more thought in purchasing if you haven’t done so.

This escape was probably one of the funnest ones we have done as it had so much charm and creativity to it. Despite still maintaining a healthy undertone of pressure, this one somehow mastered making the entire experience legitimately enjoyable and playful. We laughed and smiled the entire experience. The puzzles weren’t too tough so you didn’t feel completely lost - and they essentially flowed well to the next. We were a team of two and were able to split up tasks for part of the game. Our game master, Ari, was committed to her role and was really funny throughout. Literally, we can’t recommend this experience enough. You have to try it; you won’t regret it and you won’t forget it.

A mind blowing experience from start to finish that was masterfully cared for by the game masters. When we thought we reached our highest level of amazement, we were exposed to an even higher level again🤯. Our experience featured costars Uri and Ines with a small guest appearance from Lucia and we can easily say these are award worthy stars! They were funny, helpful, encouraging, and never broke character. The puzzles were themed perfectly and flowed really well. Some puzzles really challenged us and I have some mild mobility issues so I was a bit nervous but I was able to make it through everything! So amazing, 10/10 would recommend time and time again. I wish I could relive it over and over again.

We were reluctant to do this room due to the obvious sensitivity of the topic but were really surprised and glad we did it. The experience was jarring at some point… but almost therapeutic to be present. Some aspects allow you to potentially “see or feel” what a survivor may have felt. It can get dark but it’s no different from movies imitating real events… this is just more immersive. I think it’s worth checking out for sure especially because of how much respect this group has for honoring the 9/11 tragedy, the victims, its survivors, and their loved ones.

We had a really good experience overall. The room is newer so everything was functional and there were 1 or 2 puzzles we were really impressed with. This room theme can be challenging as the company is competing against a similar theme at a place like Netherworld, where they specialize in the scare factor. Was it good? Emphatically, yes. Was it a knock our socks off experience? Not particularly. But this company dues a really good job making it fun and fresh.
