La Tienda de Te dell Sr Miyagi

With one exception, I generally enjoyed La Tienda de Te dell Sr Miyagi. The beginning was a little slow, but after we got into the midgame the game picked up, and the game finished strong. There were moments of amazement and humor and joy. The set was very good, puzzles were fine. I appreciated the out-of-game cultural notes and thought they were a nice touch, which made the one objectionable element even more bizarre. Without spoiling too much, it was an early puzzle that struck me as pretty racist and othering.

Wanted to enjoy this more than I did. Good story and play on the Mr Miyagi theming. Pat Morita would have liked the homage, but the actor was tough to understand through the mask. (…and he nudged us just a little too much.) Middle of the game puzzling was really creative and the ending was a fun nod to a style of Japanese video gaming. Game leaned into humor, which added to the fun. But I didn’t like a couple of jokes that were in poor taste, and could be received offensively. Another game in Spain that does not match the expectation of its TERPECA ranking. But of course that’s just this one voter’s opinion.

Despite a couple of small hiccups with game flow (the game master didn't realize a lock malfunctioned for us and did not provide appropriate hints, and we were unable to move forward), and some puzzle elements that were unexpected (an earlier puzzle designed to be humorous but the punchline is in bad taste/racist) The game still had many positive elements, including a beautiful set, decor, unique elements and design

We had such an amazing time with Mr Miyagi! The set was amazing and immersive, and there were so many varied types of puzzles. Definitely a stand out experience.

8.5/10 What an absolute blast of a room. Tongue in cheek comedy meets brain boggling puzzles. Any puzzle enthusiast will be overjoyed at the sheer amount of problem solving presented throughout this experience. Mr. Miyagi constantly keeps you entertained, reminds you that this is all silly, and to not take anything too seriously. Surprise after surprise after surprise, it’s hard not to walk away from this room with a massive grin on your face.

This was my escape room #300 🥳 A one day trip to Valencia during our Barcelona trip felt like a must, with two highly rated Terpeca rooms in the city. First off: A visit to the tea shop! The beginning of the game draws you into the story, and it was an enjoyable experience. Some great puzzles, sets and character interaction, but it was missing something to make it a wow experience for me. I did enjoy myself most of the time, and it’s sometimes hard to describe or understand exactly why a game that obviously has clicked with most players didn’t do the same for me. All in all, I’m very happy to have played this one, and will remember parts of it for a long time, but it won’t end up at the top of the list after this trip.

It’s very rare for a room to embody its source material in the way this one does. The puzzles and the scenery blend together perfectly with the theme and atmosphere of the experience, only surpassed by interactions with the master himself. The laughs, smiles, and “wow” moments will be plentiful as you immerse yourself in the wholesome journey this experience provides.

If I could give this 5 hearts out of 5 it wouldn't be enough. This room was a perfect mix of extreme laughs and puzzles. It can be done with 2 experienced players without much difficulty. But 3 is ideal. The details. The sets. The GM. The fun NEVER stopped. If there is one room in Valencia you have time for, do yourself a favor and make it this one! With the hairdresser as a close second!

This is really a special escape room experience, with intricately crafted puzzles and decorations (even from when you first walk up to the establishment). There are also a few (welcome) surprises in terms of the story, and great humor/jokes throughout the game. Definitely of my favorite escape rooms in Spain.
