This was an interesting room with some cool props, but nothing to really write home about. I feel like the room that was here before (the noir detective room) was a better room, but this one has some neat quirks. I like their use of the computer system, and the use of pawn shop style props are really cool, but it just felt.....kinda hollow? We enjoyed the room, but we escaped VERY QUICKLY and the ending just felt sudden. They could do more to build up the escape or make it feel more impactful for others, but in the end it's an alright room that doesn't really stand up to the quality of their others. Passcode Pawn Shop is a classic escape room for small groups of enthusiasts and moderately sized groups of newcomers. The environment is far from realistic, but it’s a fun place to puzzle with oversized decals and cases full of merchandise. Aside from one particularly exciting moment, the room is emotionally level, with little in the way of a story arc. The puzzles are average, with some fun ahas but also some frustrating moments as well. When it ended, the gameplay simple stopped. We thought there was more to do, but after some confirmation we figured out we won. While the ending is humorous, there could be a climatic puzzle that really connects to the story or at least provides some closure. Even though it’s not particularly special, it’s still a fun game that I enjoyed playing through with my grandmother.
While it wasn’t anything special, there were a few classic escape room moments that were fun.
It doesn’t really look like a pawn shop, but it’s a reasonable recreation of one.
Our gamemaster was very energetic and exciting, but hints were heavily delayed.
