Permanently Closed - You’re stuck in a 1980s time warp. Your group has 60 minutes to get through four rooms and find clues that will unlock doors, open padlocks, and hack into computer systems. Your goal is to escape the room (all four of them) and get back to the future. Make calls from push button 80s phones….enter a “secret code” into an old-school computer system…press “musical notes” to unlock doors — and tons more. Knight Rider, Transformers,The Goonies,Walkie Talkies, Cabbage Patch Kids, 80s radio — these are just a few of the things you’ll need to use to Escape the 1980s.

References, some of which I didn’t entirely know but could tell were 80s, the multiple rooms and the transitions from one to another, were excellent. This was one of my favorite rooms of all time. Steel Owl still seems to be around but I guess they gave up on physical escape rooms sadly. They also had two at the Franklin Institute that were even higher tech than this one:
Surprise rooms and surprise bonuses for free stuff or extra time was in this.
Decor was so on-point. Steel Owl is not a force to be reckoned with

Nuances and mechanics so elegantly thought out. There is a reason this was one of my favorite escape rooms of all time for a long time.

Sad this room is currently closed but when I played it back in 2017 it was so much fun! My group did have to play with strangers but in this case it turned out fine. It has a great collection of 80s technology and memorabilia and loved that there were hidden coupons around the room that gave you a free drink at an area bar. What a great idea for a local team up to support other businesses in the area! We found a coupon and went straight to that bar after we were done! This room was so delightful and at the end it had all these wonderful 80s clothes and signs you could take a group photo with. Definitely a fun stop if you are visiting in town!
