Where Dark Things Dwell [Outdoor]

Very cool concept and atmosphere. You can tell the actors are very into it. Challenging with only two people, but would definitely be doable with a bigger group of 3 or 4. Some tricky puzzles, but the actors do walk around and provide help for those who need it.

A bit spooky considering the cultist theme at times but you got your friends - so let them tank it hahaha. You can also avoid the latter session after sunset where it’ll be much darker. We did it on a slightly rainy day so it added to the ambience. It’s a truly unique experience and the staff were very committed. I appreciate that the puzzles aren’t linear and you generally know your progress unlike a normal escape room. It is well designed and fit the venue. You’ll be walking through the village with unpaved road. So ditch the heels and bring comfy shoes!

this is a bit of a tricky room, because i love so much of it but also am critical of a lot of it atmospherically it was SO cool. right from the moment you get in there it’s an incredible time and you really feel like you’re wandering a haunted village. the different houses and the different scenery is so amazing to be surrounded by the part that loses me here is the puzzles themselves. you don’t actually do any puzzles until like half way into the room, and while there isnt a LOT to solve, its a lot of walking around trying to get clues to solve the next puzzle. it felt like a lot of distractions were in our way to be honest. the live actors took up a good chunk of our time distracting us (which was funny so its not a huge deal) and we got rained on unfortunately which took up even more time, and considering this was an outdoor room we were in a constant state of having to find shelter the puzzles themselves also weren’t that exciting sadly. they were almost all entirely word based and i cant help but feel like there was a lot of missed potential here with what could be some REALLY great puzzles the fact that you’re surrounded by other groups at the same time also makes this really fun, i was worried it would ruin it but that isnt the case at all. i really cant stress enough how cool the whole atmosphere here was but as far as an “escape room” goes, it really didnt feel like one to me. both for good reasons and bad ones 7/10 - this isnt gonna he for everyone, but for me i had a great time and even though it wasnt perfect, id recommend it. and maybe even try to do it again some day

Loved the vibes, loved just wandering around the village with good buddies in the spooky chilly evening. Puzzles were a solid/hard difficult level. It’s definitely wayyyy worth it to go at a time when it’s dark out. Only slight nitpick is I wish they integrated the village a bit more, the only interaction with the actual space was visiting different locations to pick up trinkets/clues

Overall this is a mixed experience. The puzzles are a mixed bag, some are better than others. The biggest disappointment is that the puzzles don't have you do anything in the historic buildings. You just go in grab the puzzle which is placed out in the open and move on. Most of the building is roped off and off limits, so it's not like an escape room in that way. Still not bad for the price when you factor in promo codes. We went when the sun was out, but the atmosphere is probably much better when it's dark out.

We’ve done it twice. Some puzzles are better than others, but you do this one for the experience. The plot is cheesy, and some people will eat that up.

Where Dark Things Dwell offers an exceptional escape "experience"! If possible, I highly recommend scheduling your visit for the evening to fully immerse yourself in the atmospheric ambiance. Although the puzzles leaned toward the simpler side, they were skillfully interconnected. Yet, what truly sets this experience apart is the immersive atmosphere and the live performance element of Where Dark Things Dwell. The inclusion of live actors who engage with you throughout the room adds an extra layer of excitement. However, one thing to keep in mind is that the experience can be disrupted if you end up in a group where others solve the puzzles ahead of you. Additionally, optional hints are available, so if you prefer a strict challenge, it might be a bit trickier to be more disciplined about. Despite the fact that my group didn't manage to complete every puzzle, everything came together in the end for a rewarding experience that left everyone still feeling accomplished. If you're a fan of spooky adventures that aren't overly scary, this is definitely a must-try!
