298 escape rooms
This room is an explosion of puzzles. In an industry that seems to be moving towards more linear and directed experiences, this really was refreshing. It required us to really focus on the physical organization of all of the materials we had which I haven’t had to do in ages. Is the room older school and could do with a bit of a refresh? Sure. But that seems to be classic Captive. So I loved it, but can see why it might not be others’ cup of tea (especially beginners, the amount of “stuff” might be too much) My only big suggestion would be some sort of better end mechanic. We were pretty sure we were finished so we talked for a minute and then called the hint button to check. Very anticlimactic that could easily be solved by a table or duffle bag that says what your end state is and to escape once you do so. (Or doing what ReadySetGo does and having it be a very clear point system so you’re just trying for a max score)
