Prison Break

Definitely surprised to not have a private game and be paired with others. Too many people for the game caused it to be cluttered and clumsy. Puzzles were decent, but lots of room for error without creative methods of moving the room forward. Could’ve been an off night. Props were solid, design looked good, but definitely felt like an older era room.

I had done Prison Break at The Escape Game in New York but that’s when I was young and overconfident, playing with a friend who was also young and overconfident. Back then the room kicked our butts and we ended up getting pushed through the latter half of the room in order to finish. This time around, playing with a new teammate and having the experience to tackle it again, I figured it’d be long enough that I didn’t remember the room. All I really recalled were the look of the rooms themselves, no specific puzzles. This second time around we needed next to no clues besides some mechanical overriding and got out with no worry. My favorite space in the room is the boiler room where cool mechanics meet lock and key puzzles - not only did the look of the rooms live up to Escape Game’s reputation but the puzzles were satisfying and abundant.

It was okay. I wish it was specified that it wasn’t a private room. It was too chaotic with too many people, so it made it not very fun. I wouldn’t recommend unless your party fills the max.

Feels very out of date. Lots of physical locks. Find a number unlock a lock. Small room.

Fun for a split-start room, but like other rooms done here, having a large group made things difficult just by being cramped up together. Otherwise it was fun with some good puzzles for an overall enjoyable experience. Recommended for folks who have some experienced players in their group.

This game was a fairly common but solid adaptation of the prison theme; from the split start to the various rooms and props encountered, there was a lot of familiar interactions. While the set looked nice, the final room felt especially bland in contrast to the more interesting rooms prior to it. The final interaction was definitely different, but it lacked the excitement that a final puzzle should have. Puzzles ranged from creative and intuitive to frustratingly red herring-laden. I played with 3 newcomers in a public game, and we BARELY escaped. Worth doing, but I think it may be my least favorite of the 4 TEG games I’ve played.

Definitely challenging with two people as there is a lot to get through. We were a bit slow getting started, so we had to rush through the end. But we had so much fun. Rooms aren’t private, so we booked last minute to make sure it was just us, and I’m so glad we did.
