After winning a social media competition you are invited for a luxury weekend away, courtesy of The Crimson Lake Motel. Tired after your journey in, you arrive and see everything isn't quite what it seems... You've checked in, but will you check out?
11 escape rooms
The room gives all the icky feelings you would expect from this theme. While there are some interesting visual and puzzle elements, they are somewhat overshadowed by the volume of drawers locked with a padlock. This would be less of an issue if the gameplay was less linear. As it is, one comes across information that is evidently a solution, and just pops it into the next padlock on too many occasions to reach the highest rating. The puzzles that are non-padlock related are relatively simple. Much of the difficulty comes simply from being unable to see due to themed lighting, but using phone torch is apparently allowed, so somewhat defeating the purpose. Storyline sort of works, but some of the solutions seemed a bit arbitary. Overall a fun room that I world recommend doing with a small group, not with kids

A brilliant must do Breakout room that ensures the sequel surpasses the original Vacancy room which is set in the same fictitious hotel. A lot has gone into creating the experience and puzzles, there's plenty to do to keep you occupied for the full hour
