I plan to revisit back in New Orleans in February, and I’m definitely going to do this room again. Sort of feel like I barely scraped the surface. I pretty much did the room by myself (and therefore didn't get very far), as I was with somebody who didn’t have much interest. Glad to see the game is still offered. Therefore, temporary review for now, and will update when it’s been replayed.

This game was full of twists and turns that made my party of 3 busy from the moment we got started to the end! Crookshanks the gm was phenomenal and the theatrics/immersion was fantastic. I’m a super big fan of escape rooms that don’t require a lot of locks. If you’re in New Orleans and you want something to remember, this is the place you got to go!
Story was very important to the room, and flowed very well. Not your average murder mystery!
Even though there was a puzzle broken, they seem to have prepared things. The set was really well done.
Absolutely made this room much more entertaining than it already was. Shout out to Crookshank and their meatloaf

This game is not closed! Not sure why it is listed as such here. We had a great time! GM was very accommodating, both in hinting when needed, and as a generous host.

Mardi Gras Study: A murder in the DeLaporte mansion begs to be solved. We had to join forces with the police to close the case. Jazz Parlor: A reclusive matriarch has a hidden treasure that our group was tasked to find. Pros: The sets at Escape My Room are FANTASTIC. We loved the immersive feel and experience created by the set design. Definitely worth a visit just to appreciate the work put into the rooms. The storylines were also enjoyable and elements in the set add to the overarching narrative. Cons: Our main complaints center around our experience with the game master and puzzle design. Some of the puzzles were overly complicated leading to logical fallacies. Numerous red herrings also burned up large portions of our time. These issues could have easily been remedied with more specific guidance from our game master. However, our moderator did not seem to fully understand the game flow or the puzzle solutions. He struggled to assist us and sometimes delayed our progress. Lock failures added to our frustrations. At one point our game was completely stalled by faulty materials and the game master was unable to deal with the problem. We ultimately left angry and annoyed but the owners responded promptly to our concerns. Overall we recommend you visit Escape My Room if for no other reason than to appreciate the awesome work they have put into set design. The rooms are too good to be missed. We hope that the issues with locks and the training of game moderators have been remedied by the time you visit. We have no doubt you will enjoy your experience at Escape My Room!

The atmosphere in this venue is very cool, and the GM was doing her best. But this game should be taken offline until the final puzzle is fixed. The workaround is frankly absurd, and makes the room too easy.

A small space so more than 3 would be very crowded. If the final puzzle was working it would be easiest with 3.

We got lucky with street parking right out front. There’s a lot next door but it’s very expensive.

Pros - Setting between the rooms at this place are all integrated together, which is sick - Lots of jazz history present in the decorations - Room is well decorated - Puzzles are cute and satisfying to solve, enough that I am still thinking about them - Extra puzzles at the end that were cool! - Cool places to take a picture after! Cons - The room has an interesting premise at the start, but too much reading for too little payoff (a little too straightforward) - I think one of the puzzles required outside knowledge 8/10 (solid room, recommendable but not a must play) If it just had slightly a more interesting ending, would easily be an 8.5 or 9

This was a fun and appropriate theme for the New Orleans location. Puzzles were pretty standard overall at first and then they got more intricate and involved with each room having more surprises. This room is definitely showing wear and tear and could use some tlc. Since we finished early, they asked us if we wanted to do a bonus puzzle which was neat. A fun room overall to do if in the area with an amazing game master.
Flowed well. Spooky murder theme
Continuously surprising set design- some hiccups with it just given the humidity and age of the building

Something you need to know about my reviews is that I am biased toward escape rooms that reflect the culture and the story of the place. Escape My Room’s Jazz Parlor fits all those boxes and more. The puzzles in this room were fun and they flow well. They also are a smaller establishment so you can tell that the game masters really enjoy getting into character. From start to finish, there is also that personal touch - from the lobby to the picture-taking moment. Could not highly recommend them enough. A bonus is that you may learn a little bit about jazz music here, if you pay close enough attention. Parking could be a little tough but we lucked out with a spot in front. Ideal number for this room is 3-4 players. It could also be done with 2 experienced players.

I'm always going to be inclined to love a locally designed room that cares about immersion & good design. Jazz Parlor is intermediate, dense with information, and thoroughly enjoyable. Do it! One note we did this with 7 and it should be max 6 person room. I wouldn't call this hall of fame level room for modern age, but a solid gold star, and a great destination especially given the whole house is tied together thematically and there is obvious attention to detail.

“Newer players will likely find Jazz Parlor challenging, but not impenetrable. Be patient. “
