Pandemonium

Pandemonium by Horrorville was the 3rd and last game of the day and the 4th room of our Athens Escape Tour 2026, played with the same team of five. This is another horror focused experience, with evil clowns at the center of the story. We started the game around 1:00 in the morning, which definitely added to the atmosphere. The game relies heavily on jump scares, moving through large spaces in very low lighting, which keeps everyone on edge. The story itself is fairly simple, but the clown characters were fun while still being unsettling, giving the experience a playful but creepy tone. One aspect that stood out less positively was the physical environment and some of the props, which felt quite minimal, especially considering how large some of the spaces were. At times the areas felt a bit empty, and certain walls or sections were simply painted rather than being textured or dressed to resemble real materials. With a bit more set dressing, those spaces could feel even more immersive. The ending felt somewhat anticlimactic, arriving quite suddenly and leaving us slightly surprised that the game had finished. After the experience, the GM/actor was very kind, offering us water and asking for honest feedback. He mentioned the room is over seven years old and that an upgrade is planned in the near future, including improvements to the ending. It was also interesting to hear about his passion for horror escape rooms, he has played around 130 games, all horror, only in Athens. This game is not for the faint of heart, and there is even a more extreme version with much more actor contact for those who want to go all in. Overall, an enjoyable experience for players who really enjoy horror escape rooms.

🎪 PANDEMONIUM - HorrorVille (Athens 🇬🇷) Our expectations were low and became even lower when we arrived on site. The building looked dilapidated and abandoned, the neighbourhood not the best. After the door was opened for us and we used our mobile phones to light our way up the completely dark staircase, a hunchbacked guard explained to us that the circus had burnt down years ago and there were no more shows.... So the location couldn't have been more fitting! We ventured inside to unravel the mystery of the circus. The puzzles were thematically appropriate and surprisingly varied, there were separation moments, a lot of physical contact with crazy clowns and moments of complete disorientation. Since we had chosen Insanity Mode, we definitely wanted the clowns to play their games with us (or our bodies). It was especially nice that they had learned a few extra sentences of German for us, which only made the situation crazier for me. Of all the rooms with physical contact, this was the most violent so far. Scratches, bruises and broken fingernails should be factored in here - as in any playground, really. A wandering troupe sets up the circus just off the highway, at the foot of the village. For two weeks everyone is pleased as the village floods in with people coming from all the surrounding villages to see the "Freaks". But a few days later, at the same night, after a fire destroyed the circus stable all of the village inhabitants were found murdered.

Horrorville, Florida 2020

A new troupe settles in Horrorville and undertakes the restoration of the old circus. The day before the doors opened to the public, people from the neighboring villages saw the circus wrapped in flames.

It was probably an illusion as the circus opens its doors tonight... The game can be played in two modes:

Horror Mode: Circus presences will make your experience difficult while touring the circus. Minimal physical contact. Comfortable clothing is recommended.

Insanity Mode: Paranoic freaks are in the circus and they are there to prevent you from escaping. Intense physical contact. Comfortable clothing and casual clothes are recommended.
