The Cadavera family regrets to inform you that the exceptional visit of the... //GLITCH// January 6 1938, I have been alone in the manor since the start of winter. There is a gloom about this place that keeps me up even in the dark of the night. According to my research, it seems the manor was constructed on sacred ground, a possible source of dark magic, a forbidden art that may be at the root of the Cadavera family's wealth. The manor itself seems to have functioned as a sanctuary for a cult named Opus Luminum. It was within the torturous corridors of the north wing that I found a most unusual office. During my nightly rounds, I can hear screams that chill my blood. I believe they come from Celeste, a former butler, who supposedly left to live on a farm, but if rumor is to be believed, actually perished in this dismal room of which I am currently obsessed. Access to this room is categorically forbidden to the butlers, yet my sleepless nights drive me to defiance of this interdiction. I hope I can resist the call...

Oh. My. GOD. Best one I’ve done yet! You arrive and you’re already in the universe, you get greeted and everything. The whole game itself is very immersive, you genuinely feel like it’s happening to YOU specifically.

Playing this game at 11 PM, our team didn’t know if we would be able to make it through. But once we arrived at the Manor and Cleandre (Morgan) greeted us, we knew we were in for a treat. Morgan was one of the best actors I’ve ever encountered in an escape room. He wasn’t just an actor, he was a comedian and made us laugh throughout the game. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say make sure you play this game and have fun with it. Could the room be brighter so it’s easier to read certain clues? Yes. Could the ending be strengthened? Yes. But I’m willing to look past that because the game is just so much fun.

Just a great time from start to finish. Everything from your first interaction with the host to the moment you step foot out the door is part of “escape room experience” and all in character/in-game world which just extends that level of immersion in a way I haven’t seen elsewhere. Our host was hilarious and the room really utilized the (smaller) square footage to its fullest. Puzzles were solid, intuitive yet challenging. The physical room and puzzles are good but it’s creativity of how to make a unique immersive experience that makes this place really shine. Would love to see more places extend their level of immersion in this way, but of course would require talented actors to pull it off effectively. One downside is we had questions about the escape experience and couldn’t really ask based on everything still being in character (or at least we didn’t want to break immersion) If you’re downtown Montreal do this room, you won’t be disappointed.

There are lots of spooky manor rooms around but this one was special. While not a big room, it made clever use of space and had excellent theming and lighting and sound that made it incredibly immersive. The puzzles were also great and several of them really required thinking outside the box. I would call it creepy but not scary. What really elevated the experience to another level for us was the brilliant acting of the gamemasters and our interactions with them. Not particularly flashy but a true gem of a game.

An amazing light horror room with great theming and atmosphere. The puzzles were diegetic, and helped progress the story. An enigmatic game master who was in character the entire time ensured that immersion wasn’t broken and the experience was satisfying.

Opus Memori was a heavily actor driven interactive experience. Definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed it 😊 Set was well integrated and cleverly used. Puzzles were fun, linear and clear what we needed to do. If you’re in the area for other games, this is definitely worth the stop, and very centrally located. Parking can get tricky.

This is one of the best "traditional" games I have played. The actor is amazing from the minute you step inside. There is one especially unique moment that blew everyone's mind that we had not seen elsewhere before. I highly recommend playing Opus Memori; it is worth a visit

We loved this room! The actors are in character from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave and the story, set up and interactions for this room are really charming and clever. The puzzles are great, you’re well supported as needed by actors so it doesn’t feel as much like a traditional “ask for a hint when you’re stuck” room, it’s more like an immersive story with puzzles. Great props, great puzzles, a great time overall. Tho if you like leaderboards and to know your time and all that, this might not be the experience for you.

Gameplay

Loved the game play, was novel, had great use of actors and playfulness. Top notch

The butler/GM never ONCE broke character, even after the game ended. It was surprising and really funny! That in itself made this a memorable room. Only gripe is that it was really hard to understand the voice within the room, and it wouldn't repeat itself reliably. And sometimes it would hint for us to do stuff that we had already done. Granted, it must have been quite hard to see what we were doing. We did this as a group of 4. Parallelization was limited by the number of light sources. We didn't mind, but this could be really annoying for some people.
