Dark corridors, terrifying shrieks, bone-chilling monsters — sounds like a lot of fun, right? At least that’s what you thought when you decided to take a ride on the haunted roller coaster at the amusement park. But suddenly you are stuck in a really freaky place. The ride’s gates are locked tight in front of and behind you. You stumble upon a strange riddle. Can you summon up all your courage to solve the riddles and escape the haunted roller coaster?

The EXIT box takes you into the depths of a haunted rollercoaster, work your way through the attraction solving the spooky puzzles to make your escape. Overall this EXIT game is probably the easiest of the boxes of the games I have completed thus far, making it the perfect game for those being introduced to tabletop experiences. EXIT never fail to amaze me with the creativity of some of their puzzles and reveals, the puzzles throughout this game progress as you work your way through the book travelling down the rollercoaster tracks; each segment with its own set of puzzles and theming. The puzzles in the game range from tactile to deduction yet are logical enough for children to complete and would make a great family activity but still enough to keep the adults engaged. One of the later puzzles is a little more complicated and does disrupt the general flow of the game. As with all of the EXIT games there are some wonderful twists, turns and surprises in this box. As mentioned earlier a great place to start for beginners or those new to the tabletop experiences. This was fun, not their best game but it wasn’t disappointing! Theming and carnival pieces were cool. Art was great, as always.

I had higher hopes for The Haunted Roller Coaster. While it was fun overall, it was more themed towards generic “haunted” house style rather than roller coaster or theme park-themed. As a 2-star game, it’s pretty easy and linear, though I may be biased after having played quite a few other EXIT games. Some of the surprises were neat, and a final gift makes it decently cute for younger players. Though, I didn’t touch the “gift.”

The Exit Game delivers on many levels. 1) Range of Difficulties 2) inexpensive for a group 3) Take Home fun 4) well designed 5) high quality This stay at home option for obsessed escapists is definitely a great option. It’s a great option for large families (that suffer the burden for the entire rooms price). It also build in a scoring mechanism for time and hints that penalizes you so it keeps the escapists honest.
