I’ve been reviewing all the 8 rooms we’ve done for 13th Gate and the general theme is similar - impressive set design, lackluster puzzles. For The Asylum, I will say that the long hallway does make you feel like you’re in a mental hospital gone wrong and that’s pretty impressive. Puzzles here are better than the other rooms. The only thing we could not stand is the noise. The noises were obnoxious. There is also a toilet seat that spews out water, which I don’t think is necessary. Once for shock factor makes sense, but when the toilet seat keeps spewing out water, it’s just gross.

One of my absolute favorite horror themed games to have ever played. The mechanism for getting hints was fun and the start of the game really added to the terror. The atmosphere was perfect and the design made the space feel huge! Don't get me wrong, it is Huge! The puzzles were fun and made sense but the atmosphere is just simply amazing and terrifying.

Set is great ofc - only con was it was LOUD - almost annoyingly so towards the end. Might want to consider wearing earplugs if your sensitive to loud noises.

I’m a scaredy cat, no question, but I can power through a scary room if the puzzles and solves are satisfying and make sense with the storyline. This room did not deliver on that for me. The set was stunning, I was absolutely immersed, but the jump-scares were contrived and the storyline just didn’t do it for me.

Absolutely fantastic. The set was by far the most elaborate that we have ever played. Good puzzles that were both original and challenging. Recommend fully, this is hands down the best escape room experience we have had to do (in 50+ rooms). We are going to have to travel back to do the rest!

For our second round with 13th this one is a hard sell for me in terms of gameplay. The set and the atmosphere that you are put into is amazing from beginning to end and the puzzles were novel. Although my hardest thing to wrap my head around is flow. For a game of its size we had a hard time getting from place to place with ease. In the end we made our way through but it felt more of a choppy experience rather than one that was scary fun and smooth. Though as stated the puzzles were awesome and the set was something else that gave a Disney level of quality and attention, especially with the reveals it makes throughout. We had a great time laughing at eachother when one refused to something or turned around with a “NOPE” face. Definitely one to give a shot if you really wanna feel on the edge :)

Loved the theming and set design, the jump scares were okay. Most of the puzzles were really cool and novel but a few were more tedious. Room is great overall, but not my favorite horror escape room. Biggest complaint would be the lack of enthusiasm and rushed feeling from the game-masters.

If you took away all the impressive set design at 13th gate and focused solely on puzzle flow, I think this room would be my favorite - and it still has a pretty damn good set design. I loved how this room played out, the set was phenomenal, and the lighting and sound design really worked for me. Absolutely worth doing if you're at 13th Gate.

100% an AMAZING experience! Slightly experienced players will do well. This game had my heart pounding the whole time and was perfectly thought out from beginning to end. 10/10 an outstanding escape! This may top my list at this point.
