Going into this room, we’d heard a lot of hype regarding its high level of difficulty. It’s definitely a challenging room, and probably not for beginners, but we didn’t find it to be as difficult as we’d heard. Tbh we thought “Cutthroat” was a harder room. Anyways, don’t let the hype dissuade you from experiencing this incredible room! I think Tomb of Anubis had my favorite puzzles out of all the rooms at 13th Gate, requiring many different skill sets, from pattern recognition, to searching, to decryption. A couple of the puzzles even had callbacks to themselves later in the game, giving them a uniquely enjoyable depth. Something else I really enjoyed was the inclusion of a leatherbound “run book” that acted as a user manual for all the puzzles throughout the experience. I sometimes struggle with figuring out where to begin, when presented with a slew of puzzles, items, and data. The run book really helped as a reference guide, I wish more rooms would do this! My only criticism is of the unnecessarily complicated flashlights they gave us. They changed color from time to time, but didn’t really contribute to the experience. They were a subtly confusing boondoggle that we didn’t need.

Rating: 4.5/5 - The most impressive tomb/temple game I've played so far Pros: ➕ Love the immersion, from the sand on the floor to the decorated high ceilings. Everything in the room looked appropriate to the time period and every inch was finished, texturized, and weathered. ➕ Large scale set with fun progression from room to room, lots to discover and explore. ➕ Tons of magical feeling tech, no padlocks since they wouldn't fit the theme. ➕ Enjoyable puzzles using multiple senses with some tactile and physical interactions. The puzzles fit the theme. ➕Fun hidden surprises and reveals. ➕Each player got their own flashlight, they were high tech and had some interesting functions. Though sometimes they were a bit finicky. ➕ Satisfying ending ➕ Audio and lighting effects added to the immersion. ➕ GM was friendly and helpful. Room for improvement: ➖If I remember correctly, they didn't use an in-character hint system like some of their other rooms. The GM just talked to us over the speaker. ➖Storyline was nothing special and kinda forgettable. ➖Not a fan of having a runbook/journal since there is so much reading and I'd rather enjoy the set, but at least they gave us 2 of them so that more than 1 person could read it at a time. ➖This room would've blown my mind in 2017 and it's still great in 2026, but not quite top room material anymore. We played as a team of 5 enthusiasts and finished with time to spare. This is supposed to be their hardest room, make sure you are not afraid to ask for hints, also tell the game master to nudge you when you get behind. I would not recommend this for beginners. My ranking of all 8 rooms here: 1. Cutthroat Cavern ❤️ 2. Tomb of Anubis ❤️ 3. Spellbound ❤️ 4. Disappearance of Flight 13 ❤️ 5. The Asylum ❤️ 6. The Collector 👍 7. Agent 13 👍 8. Death Row👍

By far, this room had some of the most fun puzzles to complete. The set design was impressive, especially considering it’s an older room. Overall, this was my favorite room at this location.

Excellent set design, overly ridiculously hard though as advertised. Definitely don't do this room last like we did as our 8th game of the day. Brains thoroughly melted...

The most technical and spatially impressive room I have ever experienced. Not a huge fan of the guide book style, but your mileage may vary. Your group will need to be on their game and working hard from the jump to escape in 60 minutes
