This year’s edition of Delusion (an annual immersive theater experience) up in Pomona was called “Nocturnes and Nightmares.” It was considerably less intense, less dark (both in terms of lighting and subject matter), and involved way less physical exertion than last year’s cult theme and design. Something tells me that there must have been problems with audience members (or something along those lines) last year that led to this year getting intentionally tamed so much. Even still, there was a group getting kicked out as we were about to go in because a guy actually tried to punch an actor, the whole group kept taking out their phones to film (you’re explicitly told not to), and they kept disrupting the whole performance for the actors and fellow audience members.

First time and it was so good. Probably helped that we did the last show on the last day. So so good.

Can not recommend Delusion enough! I’ve wanted to do this for years because I’ve heard nothing but good reviews! I can finally say it lives up to them all! I’ve never felt so immersed in something before. The actors, setting, special effects, stunts, ambience, story was all amazing. While this year ties in the past few years of story-telling, as a first timer it wasn’t hard to follow along and understand what was going on. You will be running a lot, screaming, climbing stairs, shimmying through tights areas, but nothing too crazy. It’s definitely not jump scare scary but the setting and story really creates a horror atmosphere. Can’t wait to do it next year!
Spooky
Not necessarily jump scarey, but creepy ambience is top notch!
This is probably as immersive as you can get!

This year's Delusion packed strong thrills and was rewarding to both returning and new fans alike. Long-time attendees of the show will find the most fulfillment, as this year featured numerous throwbacks, references, and returning characters from previous shows, spanning over a decade of stories all combined in one ultimate meta plotline. Outside of the main show itself, the grounds contain a handful of activities to partake in. Enjoy entertainment and drinks on the second floor, and make sure to visit the attic before your showtime (wait times can vary, so grab a spot as soon as you arrive). There are also food and beverage offerings in the backyard, but I would stay away from there until after your show, as it is directly in front of the exit, within earshot of potential spoilers. Make sure to plan one final visit to the beautiful Phillips Mansion. This is one not to be missed.

While nothing in the show is particularly gruesome, the show requires a lot of physical activity and for guests to follow a strict code of conduct, so more mature audiences are recommended.

Been to delusion 3 years in a row. This year was much stronger than Valley of the Hollows. However it just is too darn short. It leaves you wanting a longer experience more interactive scenes and more story. All that said, it’s a great show, fun and adventurous. Scare level is moderate but immersion level is top notch. Go with a big group and play your part. It’s a lot of fun. Seems like this might be the last year of the storyline so I’m anticipating something entirely new in years to come.

I attended the show on September 28th, which was the second weekend of the new season. Perhaps that’s why the production was a bit rough—the director interrupted & paused our walk through more than once which broke the immersion a bit. I understand that such things happen with a production of this nature, but I also feel that the cast needs to give clear instructions on whether guests should leave props behind or not because that’s been an issue both times I’ve seen the show. Beyond that I still had enjoyed the show and would highly recommend it, even to those who generally dislike horror. This was only my second year attending so it was nice to get a glimpse of many of the shows I missed. I also liked that this year was a bit more interactive than last year. I plan to attend in the future and look forward to seeing what they have in store next year!
Spooky
A spooky atmosphere, but not “scary” per se. Delusion can be enjoyed by those who generally avoid horror experiences. There is no touching or tasers.
