KURIOSUM - Artifact of Darkness

Another escape room that cannot be called an escape room. As much as I loved the set design and the eerie atmosphere, the riddles were kind of boring and way too easy. If you consider it an immersive experience, it's fine, but it definitely should not count as an actual escape room. The story sadly was also a bit confusing to follow. The gamemaster did an immaculate job at acting and told us a lot about the room afterwards, which was fun. If you like good set designs and do not care about actually having to solve hard riddles, this room definitely is fun. Keep in mind to not wear anything that shouldn't get dirty - I've never seen this much dirt and dust in a room in my entire life.

We have played quite a few escape rooms, but this one was on a completely different level. From the very beginning, we were fully immersed. The atmosphere was incredibly strong and everything just fit perfectly. The setting, story, and details were crafted so well that you completely forgot you were in an escape room. The puzzles were extremely well thought out. Challenging but fair, and above all very varied. Nothing felt forced. It always felt like everything made sense and was exactly the way it was meant to be. And the game master was simply outstanding. You could immediately tell how much passion he had for the whole experience. That energy completely transferred to us. Performance, timing, support, everything was on point. Honestly, this was a 12 out of 10. Definitely one of the best rooms we have played so far. Absolute recommendation.

I was a bit nervous when the confirmation email said that we will get very dirty, but the "dirtyness" actually ended up being very unique way how to guide players, sadly the game breaks this rule of flow throughout. It has one of the most beautifull detailed sets i've ever seen, redicolous amount of lighting and special effects and some good puzzles. Unfortunately there are multiple holes in the story which were all answered by "nobody knows... I guess thats a mystery..." and it really didn't help that you get multiple emails and messages before (and after) the game with long in-character onboarding wich are supose to build up the story but they've mostly just overwhealmed us. You don't get a chance to use the bathroom before the game, but the bathroom is in the building the whole time!! and you can use it after the game. I think they do this not to break the on boarding, but this is really stupid given how hard it is to find a public bathroom in Witten.

Es war einfach unglaublich toll! Wir haben bereits schon einige Escape Rooms gespielt, aber dieser hier war anders! Hier geht es nicht einfach nur darum Rätsel zu lösen -nein, man wird quasi in die Geschichte hinein gezogen! Was früher einmal die "Adventure Spiele" auf dem PC waren wird hier zum "Real-Life". Man wird in das Spiel mit hinein gezogen und muss dabei auch Aufgaben erledigen damit es weiter geht. Mit dem dreckig werden, können wir absolut bestätigen 🤣, was aber auch zu dem Abenteuer dazu gehört! Lasst euch unbedingt mal auf das Abenteuer im Kuriosum ein und vergesst die "klassischen" Escape Rooms . Das hier ist ein Abenteuer für die ganze Familie, wobei die Kinder schon etwas größer sein sollten, da es auch etwas unheimlich/gruselig sein könnte :) Von uns eine absolute Empfehlung!!! Bitte macht weiter so!!

Wow, what a cool and amazing experience. It starts off incredibly well right from the beginning. I don’t want to spoil anything about the process, because this is an experience you should go into completely blind. The design, story, and puzzles are unbelievably good and very well thought out. I’ve never visited such an outstanding escape room before. What I especially appreciate is that there’s no time pressure. You can explore and discover everything at your own pace. We traveled 6 hours to get there, and we will definitely do it again someday. It was absolutely worth it! We’re beyond thrilled!

Absolutely blown away by this escape room! The technical aspects are top-notch, with cleverly designed puzzles. The design is visually stunning, transporting us to a unique and immersive world. But what truly sets this room apart is the creativity of the story - we were hooked from start to finish. A fully immersive journey with a compelling story, elaborate effects, and several surprising twists. I love that they let you experience everything without time pressure, and you just go with everything that happens. The 360-degree theming, which also hides most tech used during the experience (I mean, wow!), incorporates helping mechanisms brilliantly into the story. The love for easter eggs and many lovely details in general goes far beyond of what you can usually expect from an escape room or any immersive experience in general. Simply because it would work with less effort, but these guys know their potential and do it right. Go there; it's worth every penny!

We would fully recommend this room to everyone looking for an escape room with a very immersive story and a real impressive experience. Best room I ever. I was absolutely amazed by this experience and all the details.

This game is high on cinematic-ness and set design, it felt like we were in a movie much more than other rooms. The cold start was very effective and set the tone well; the end sequence was a clever conclusion. Puzzles made sense and were fine, but they also felt mostly there to gate progression rather than being a focus. While there's a lot of interesting things to look at, you can't actually interact with much - it's a clever way to reduce maintenance, but it also contributed to the game feeling pretty "on rails" to me in a way that I didn't love. The story and general atmosphere were also not something that resonated with me, but I could see others appreciating.
