While I really really wanted to like Kandy corp as I love the owners city 13 and his coownership of 60 to escape southridge- I just could not quite get behind the new puzzle system and frankly the price for it. The puzzles have an excuse to be disconnected by being in separate rooms for the same goal. Many puzzles did not work the first time, and because game guides are spread thin they just gave us a clue to solve the puzzle (we knew how to solve) because they can’t actively override broken puzzles. The alarms that marked the “end of 15 mins” we had allotted for rooms also went off too early hurting our ears and eyes with strobe lights and loud blaring alarms. Conceptually and set design wise I thought this was another solid room from the creator but the puzzles themselves lrft much to be desired. While this experience was longer than the average escape room it did not feel like any more of an experience was gotten out of it. While the colors and personality of the game was bright and new the puzzles felt lackluster. The game itself hinted at alternate endings which I could not find traces of throughout the game, but if the game is rebooted as a choose your own adventure escape room I would gladly come back and give the game another chance. Overall it is an interesting experience and fresh take on escape rooms but falls to meet the mark of what it’s potential and idea could be.

The AI animated videos were REAL cheesy and felt cheap. Even the cheapest costume and actor would’ve felt better. The games themselves as 15 minute mini rooms didn’t include any classic locks/combinations but involved different types of challenges including some (sort of) physical, memory, and math The concept with the mini rooms letting them run multiple groups at once without being IN THE ROOM with another group was interesting
Wonka-style candy factory including real candy to snack on in each room was a fun touch
Desk staff and game masters were very friendly and welcoming

It SEEMED like the “15 minutes per room” would be tough going in, but we were well ahead of pace

I really wanted to like it because I love their rooms but it was a huge miss. I just know they're able to do such cool things that I was expecting so much. I hope they're able to revamp it a little and add to it someday. Most of my qualms are in the breakdown and there was another review I saw on here that was pretty accurate. Definitely don't let this deter you from playing their other rooms tho! Its a mini "Save the City" but Save the City is very much a bang for your buck
They were more like mini challenges than actual puzzles...some were fun just from us goofin but overall nothing revolutionary
Maybe I just have such high expectations because their set design for their actual escape rooms are SO well done but the immersion was seriously lacking. One of our players suggested even having Kandy Corp aprons for GMs would be so simple but effective

Our rooms had to be breached about 3 times due to tech issues. Our GM was very attentive though and acted quickly when we got the correct answer. Tech problems arw bound to happen so I wasn't too upset, I just wish GMs were trained to be in character when therw are mishaps. Such as "CODE SUGAR RUSH all personel stand by while we de-gum our electrical" or "sweetness levels have reached the danger zone, please wait while we recalibrate"

Kind of. mostly a guide in the beginning & a person at the HR desk (who would also pop into our rooms to fix some tech)

Kandy Corp was something I was SO excited to play and, while the concept was good, the execution left something to be desired. Overall, I still enjoyed the experience but there were a few tech problems which caused our game master to have to come in to reset the room a couple of times. There were some really unique and fun puzzles and the AI voice intro as you walk through each new department is fun too! The set design left a LOT to be desired and I wish they had done as much for Kandy Corp as they did for Save the City.

Kandy Corp is not a traditional escape room, but more like an open-ended set of challenge rooms. Following a welcome center room, you have access to 4 rooms that I can best describe as 15-minute mini-escape rooms, each with a few challenges, some of which are more physical and dexterous in nature. Others are more traditional puzzles, though not as challenging as an actual escape room as they are linear and usually require obvious inputs. My favorite was the final room, which is accessible after finishing every room, including the welcome center. The set, the props, the colors, the cameo Zelda house music, and the atmosphere are well done and evoke the futuristic Wonka candy factory. And the story and lore of the factory, including the mystery of the founder, is interesting to learn about as you progress. That’s probably my favorite part about this mostly decent escape room gauntlet. Unfortunately, there were some glitches during our experience, and rooms had to reset entirely due to it being the 1st day running. This matters too because although each room is a private experience, the setup is public and you may run into others in the narrow hallway heading to other rooms. So keep the public nature of this experience in mind if that is a concern. This is great for families and younger children. The fact that there is ACTUAL candy that you can just chew on or suck on while you complete challenges is charming and sweet! For escape room enthusiasts, time would be better spent in the facility’s amazing 4-hour escape room marathon Save the City. Interestingly enough, Kandy Corp does fit into the timeline and story of that futuristic robotic superhero adventures. So props to City 13 on the escape world they are building! I haven’t seen anything else like it!
