Your “Botanist Manor” mission will transport you to the heart of Scotland, to Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands. In 80 minutes, you will have to infiltrate a mysterious escape game called “TimeGates”, owned by the eccentric Ewan McAllister in order to find the trace of Sarah Fisher, a journalist who disappeared a week ago. Herald Scotland investigative journalist Sarah Fisher disappeared without a trace a week ago near Blair Manor. This historic place has today been transformed into an escape game center, called “TimeGates”. Your mission if you accept it is to use the time machine to go back a week in the city of Kirkwall. On site, you will have to infiltrate this escape game by pretending to be ordinary customers and thus try to save the journalist before it is too late. Over the last 5 months, local police in Kirkwall have recorded around thirty unsolved disappearances of tourists traveling in small groups. This normally peaceful region is today plunged into uncertainty and fear, investigators suspect the actions of a serial killer. Ewan McAllister, the owner of Blair Manor, is a renowned botanist, specializing in the study of tropical plants. Following a personal tragedy, the loss of his son, Ewan McAllister changed his career direction and moved away from the scientific community. He has since created a mysterious escape game called “TimeGates” in his family mansion, now suspected by local police of being a cover for other activities.

A very Strange story which is completely fine…if done well - but this was pretty meh. Good scale and some nice transitions but felt very whimsical as the story was so ridiculous. Relied heavily on tech / touch screens with a couple of frustrating puzzles that would have been better served in an online experience instead of a physical escape room. The ending felt very similar to a famous Dutch game.

Mixed feelings about this room. Parts of it were really good. Parts of it were challenging. We had fun overall and would definitely recommend. The quality of the room and the effects are so well done- there’s a lot of cool tech and fun effects that enhance the room. The story itself could use some work. At no point did I understand what was coming next and ultimately the story does not set out to accomplish what it claims so that took me out of it a bit. The staff was excellent, the room was great quality - If you’re in town it’s worth your time.

This one led you on twists and turns. I really had no idea what to expect. When you show up to their location you'll see why I was confused. The experience and story had some cool mind bending moments but if I'm going to be picky some of the effects could be upgraded to make it feel even more premium of a room. 8.5/10

The Botanist Manor was our second room of Day 2 and the 5th game of our NL/BE escape tour 2026, and it felt like walking through a living painting. This experience is pure immersion. Every new space you enter makes you pause and think, wow. The level of detail, set design, and atmosphere is simply beautiful. It’s eye candy from start to finish, and everything feels carefully crafted with precision and care. The puzzles lean slightly on the easier side, but they’re enjoyable and flow naturally within the environment. What impressed me most is how cohesive everything feels. In their earlier rooms, I had struggled with the amount of red herrings, but here that issue is completely gone. The design feels refined and confident. It ranked #18 in TERPECA 2024, and that recognition makes complete sense. Highly recommended for all players. This one is a treat from beginning to end.

Puzzles were more on the easy side but it fit all perfectly together.
This was absolutely extraordinary to experience.
Functional, nothing special. Mentioned in the past that it feels more like a franchise than a personally made experience.

We had an incredible amount of fun, and just like at Tokio Lab, the story is well thought out and the room is perfectly designed. There are a lot of rooms here, though—I think what really sets this one apart is the reception area, the waiting room, and the introduction. In my opinion, that’s what elevates a very good room to a top-notch one.

A really great escape room. You’re welcomed in the clothing store, which immediately sets the mood for the escape room. The rooms are beautifully designed and meticulously finished, with fun special effects. No run-of-the-mill puzzles with padlocks. Everything has been carefully thought out. It’s just a shame there were a few glitches with the Wi-Fi, which meant some effects didn’t work as intended. This took you out of the atmosphere for a moment, and sometimes it wasn’t clear whether it was part of the escape room or not, but otherwise highly recommended!!

Very impressive from the moment you approach the building until the end. Beautiful set design, lightscape, and soundscape that framed a game with meta layers. We loved the puzzles. They fit beautifully into the theme, were fun to interact with and all made sense. There were some visual surprises that caught us off guard and heightened the game to new levels. On our escape room trip through Germany's and Belgium's best rooms, The Botanist rises to the top. Must play!

Not, unless they have a way to create a workaround to the stairs in the game.

This is one of my favorite games: Great set, interesting interactions, multiple wow moments, good puzzles. My only thought is there were at least two themes I thought could have independently been very cool premises, and I would have loved to see each explored in more depth. Also, shout out for Escape Rush's entrance and lobby - it really sets the tone well.
