AHH (and I cannot stress this enough) WOOOOOO 🐺 Lost Lock’s newest addition is a remarkably ambitious concept that, by almost every metric, is executed really well! Mad Monster is a single-room escape with a twist, you’re chained to the god damn floor in the back of a truck… oh and the monster, there’s a monster. For such a small space the use of tech, sound and lighting was so impressive and had all my friends feeling pretty damn immersed. The style of gameplay is much better suited to smaller groups as there’s not a heap of puzzles but due to the strong reliance on communication, too many players all yapping over the top of each other can very quickly become an overstimulated disaster. I think that’s why I didn’t love this room as much as I feel like I should have, while the execution was excellent there was always so much going on with so many people that I had trouble fully getting into the content. Knowing what I know now I will learn from my mistakes and consider having less friends 🙂 Very impressive room! 7.0/10 🔏🧩

The four of us Are locked up in chains And then they trust That we use our brains? A single space Feels confined and dim Through clues we race To save limb from limb Look out the truck And see the full moon We're sitting ducks We must get out soon Without teamwork You’ll surely be dyin’ A beast who lurks… The Designer: Ryan!

Did this room with a team of four. I thought this was a memorable room as it was sort of a sit down and play escape room for the first half (supposedly a bit inspired by the Seance escape room in Sydney). Being handcuffed for the entirety of the game was also an interesting experience. The beginning of the room requires team communication and despite being quite a small room was entertaining. We did find it a bit easy and escaped in roughly 30 minutes but I still found the experience enjoyable.

Completed this room in around 30 mins with 4 people. It was a little spooky but not too scary which was great for us. Note that you are handcuffed the whole time (which was immersive but a little cumbersome at times, though the game master told us at the beginning we could take it off if needed). It definitely added to the experience so we quite enjoyed it. The puzzles were interesting and half of it could be played sitting down with us being able to stand up and explore in the second half. The game master was great (sorry didn’t catch her name). The only gripe would be that it was a bit short as we finished with half the time remaining but it would be great for teams with less experience.

It was an enjoyable room. We were handcuffed and chained to another player. Had to communicate with each other to complete the clues.

having completed 56 rooms, this room is in my top 3. despite being a single room, you really must experience this. the puzzles are ingenious, the design is divine, and our game master, ryan, was so kind as to explain some of what went into conceptualizing and creating this room. my one piece of advice: before you start, make sure the handcuffs aren't too tight.

Accessibility

in my humble opinion, this game would not be wheelchair accessible . as for hearing impairments, i have profound hearing loss, and i had no problem playing this room. as for visual impairment, there is low lighting in this room, so call ahead with any questions before booking it.

Surprisingly fun and engaging despite it being a single-room experience. Cool concept and sick finale, though I do wish it could’ve been longer, as most experienced teams would likely finish it in under half the allotted time.

This was a short but fun experience. I haven’t played anything like this room and its ending was great and unique.

There wasn’t much of a story, although you could guess through the puzzles.
