The Murdoch & Co Apothecary has been left abandoned for nearly 100 years. The mystery surrounding the Murdoch family and the curse that fell upon them has never been solved. Founded in 1811 by Joseph Murdoch, the Murdoch & Co Apothecary was passed down for 3 generations. Mystery has surrounded the Murdoch family since the 1830’s when after nearly dying from Scarlet Fever, Joseph’s daughter Elizabeth made a miraculous and almost instant recovery. Rumors of a “deal with the devil” were whispered about among the locals. Those rumors only intensified when after his death, Elizabeth began collecting cursed objects from around the globe only to hide them away somewhere in the Apothecary. It’s now up to you to solve the mystery of the Murdoch & Co Apothecary and the family that owned it. The shop sits exactly as it did the last night Joseph’s grandson; William locked the door for the last time before his untimely death in 1915. Over 100 years later, stories of ghosts, evil spirits and worse are still told around town. Luckily, you’re not afraid… or are you? The Apothecary room offers varying intensity levels from Non-Scary to Blood Chilling! You can choose the intensity and difficulty level at the time of your booking.

I honestly don’t know how to write this review without sounding completely ridiculous, because Apothecary at Think Tank Escape Rooms is hands down, no questions asked, the most incredible escape room we have ever done (and we’ve done a decent amount). We (Mom, Dad and 12-year-old) are on an escape room road trip from Calgary, Alberta, and this room alone would have made the trip worthwhile. We were incredibly lucky to be among the first groups to experience Apothecary. It had only been open for a few days when we played it, and you could tell that an enormous amount of planning, expertise, and care had gone into creating it. The immersion is absolute. The flow of the room is fantastic. The technology is top notch. The puzzles fit beautifully into the environment and story. And the finishing touches are just *chef’s kiss.* Afterward, we had the chance to chat with Jeff, the owner, for a bit. Hearing even a little about the thought and work that went into creating the room made us appreciate the experience even more. There is clearly a tremendous amount of expertise and, more importantly, heart behind this room. If you only ever do one escape room, do this one. Seriously. Apothecary is the new benchmark against which I’m going to be judging every escape room we do from now on.
