Quest For The Temple of Light

9.4/10 First things first, if you haven’t had the chance to play Quest for the Temple of Light, find time to go play it. This room has the greatest start to a game we have ever experienced and don’t get us started with the set. We walked in to one of the rooms asking, “Is this the Disney World of escape rooms?” For the set design and immersion alone, Quest for the Temple of Light makes our top 5 rooms ever played as of writing this in February 2026. With an absolutely amazing set, we wished the puzzle design was just as grand but we felt like that’s where this room fell a bit short. The flow from room to room didn’t really make sense, especially to the overarching story, which left us a bit confused as well. The name of the room is the Quest for the Temple of Light, but we didn’t even capture this light in a temple. Speaking with each other afterwards, we agreed that as their first room, Keepers of Balance were showing everyone what they are capable of with their sets by adding all these different types of rooms, we just wish it was advertised as that because it would have made more sense to the story. Overall, these are just little knit picks because this room was amazing. By far the greatest and most beautifully designed room we ever played. From the moment we stepped in the door we were instantly captivated and that’s what we all hope for when playing an escape room. We will be back, no doubt about it, to play Defenders of the Sunken Realm and their newest game coming out soon.

Wow. We had wanted to come out here since KOB opened, and this room did not disappoint. Not knowing exactly what to expect, we were whisked away into an adventure that was unique, hectic, satisfying, and just enjoyable. It's hard to describe what this room excels at individually, because it's the combo of everything being so darn good that makes the room so satisfying to make through. While the puzzles aren't the most difficult we've done in a room, they flow, are themed, and are satisfying to figure out. The live actors only add to the experience, making you feel immersed in the story instead of being thrust into a room. I appreciate the dynamism of where this can take the stories they tell, as well as opening the game up to more people through gentle-assists that feel much more reasonable than waving at a camera that happens to be in an ancient tomb. I had really high expectations following along on Instagram, and this room truly blew us away. Huge shoutout to Josh for what he's created here, and the rest of the KOB team.

Pros: Absolutely incredible set design, very enjoyable puzzles, great immersion. Cons: incense smell was almost stifling for those of us with sensitive noses, and the rooms grew progressively warmer to the point of discomfort. Thankfully, these are easy to fix and the owner replied that they have done so!

Most amazing experience from check in to finishing. Seamless plot that is maintained with ease from GM. Parker was amazing as our GM and delivered an amazing experience.

One of, if not the best escape rooms I have ever done. You can tell how much time, love, and creativity went into this room. Great GM that not only provided help when needed but also joined the story in a fun way. HIGHLY recommend if you are in the Charlotte area.

One of our top favorite escape rooms. The set designs are amazing, big wow factor. The puzzles are fun, not too difficult. The live actor Connor was really great. We had an absolute blast and can't wait to experience their other rooms. Highly recommend to anyone.

Far and away the best escape room I’ve ever done. Top notch immersion, many different themes mixed together. The live acting is seamless and isn’t cringe like other escape rooms that have live acting. The script keeps the perfect amount of live interaction and they step away at the right times. Naomi played her character extremely well!!

The room was impressive and easily the best in the Charlotte area, but we wanted more. It's an easy room, especially for four experienced players.

The production design is fantastic, but I would say the escape room elements are lacking a bit. It is all tech based, no locks to be found. It’s more of a task based video game type progression, you’re really never in doubt of what the next task is, or how to accomplish it. I think it is worth it purely for the level of immersion they put into it, but don’t expect to be challenged by it.
