Dr Devastation is at it again! (again!). This time he’s purchased the Metro City Aquarium! The Good Guys organization says this smells fishy and has requested your help to get in and see whats going on. Something about a pollutinator 9000, and a Gift shop attendant named Finn?

Fun kid-friendly room that incorporates fun purchases with an in-room character, cute water animals, aquatic ambience, and a super villainous surprise. There wasn’t a lot that really wowed me, but it was such a pleasant room with a splash of good puzzles and even a chance to dress up. The entire time I was in there, I was thinking this must be perfect for families and young ones. Probably excellent for birthday parties too! Because life is just better, down where it’s wetter, under the sea!

This room was super cute! It is not my favorite at Masterpiece (because some of their other rooms are phenomenal) but this is a great option for children or escape room enthusiasts who don’t like to be scared. Some of the rooms are quite small but are still well executed. The puzzles are very well done and unique!
Gameplay
I really liked the puzzles in this room! The games at Masterpiece don’t have the most extravagant sets but they more than make up for it with their spot-on execution of fun, unique, and challenging (but not frustrating) puzzles.
Atmosphere
This room was super cute and would be great for young escape room enthusiasts! The aquarium aspect isn’t entirely immersive but it does align with the theme. The ceilings are quite low and spaces are a bit cramped.
Customer service
Everyone at Masterpiece is always super welcoming!
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
I’ve never seen this theme before and the occasion interactions with the game master was a cute addition.
Story
This room is somewhat connected to another one of the rooms at Masterpiece. The story was unique but not overly complex.
Difficulty
Medium
The individual puzzles in this room are challenging but still very doable. It doesn’t feel too difficult but it also doesn’t feel too easy.
Game tech
There was a good mix.
Ideal number of players
3
Because some of the spaces are small, I would recommend 2-4 players. If the players are children, you could probably go with a slightly larger group.

Adults would be needed to help with more difficult puzzles but the theming would be appropriate for children.

Live actors
Kinda? There are some interactions with the game master.

Ducking is basically required for this room. There are also stairs that are necessary to traverse.
Accessibility
I would not recommend this room for anyone with mobility restrictions. Some puzzles utilized color but no puzzles utilized sound.

Very cute room. I think some of the other rooms at this location are better. Very cute puzzles that fit with the theme. Just seemed a little dated.

A fun room with a great final third, this game starts with a more point-and-click style "earn money to buy X, Y or Z item from the actor." Unfortunately, it's not always clear why we need to buy X, Y, or Z until after you buy it and can take a closer look at it - so it feels like we're just trying to purchase random items hoping it'll be right (and the actor will steer you to the right item anyway, so you don't feel in control of the puzzles). The final part to this game was very fun. The most fun part was being encouraged to wear goofy costumes. I'm easily entertained.

Coral Kingdom's first space, a non-descript room with coral paintings and a staffed gift shop, does not put the best foot forward. It's dim, the decor and set do not create a clear sense of place, and the puzzles involve opening a series of unthematic locked boxes. The character in the room didn't have a clear personality or point of view, and seemed there mainly to facilitate the exchange of objects (seemed like a missed opportunity). Things improve once you move on, with the final space being the highlight, but those first few minutes really hurt the overall impression of the room. Too many of the puzzles were arbitrary numeric lock combos with poor thematic linkage. We did 15 rooms in Charlotte-Charleston areas this week, and this was the second-weakest room. I can't give this a thumbs-down, however, because overall it wasn't a BAD room, and it steadily improved as time went on. But it was nowhere near as good as Wrecked at the same location, and if we'd skipped it, I wouldn't have missed it. If could rate it as "meh", I would.
Gameplay
Lots of combination locks. A few more interesting puzzles near the end. Gameplay got more interesting the deeper we got into the experience.

Another beautiful experience. Really enjoyed how each act incorporated different game flow. Scenery was fun and we found ourselves challenged by the amount of tasks (in a great way). 100% wish we lived closer to this venue!

As always, Masterpiece delivers. What a really enjoyable game! In a sequel to Metro Mayhem, you have to thwart the evil Dr. from polluting the water supply! The set was good and a nice novel change of scenery having this take place at an aquarium. The puzzles flowed really well (mostly linear at first) and then semi-non-linear at the end. The live actor will make you giggle for sure. All in all, this is another must-do. If you are at Masterpiece, come for Wrecked and stay for Ghastly Escapes and throw this one in as well, time permitting. But honestly, there's not any to avoid!
