Your crew has just received word that off the coast of Tortuga there are ships ready for the taking! You must scour the ships for hidden cannonballs, solving riddles, deciphering maps, and cracking pirate codes. Each puzzle you solve earns you more firepower, but time is short! Once you’ve gathered enough cannonballs, it’s time for battle. Using a giant map, you’ll aim and fire at the enemy ships, trying to sink their fleet before they sink yours. Strategy and precision are key—misfire, and you could lose your chance at freedom! Will you outsmart the enemy, and end with the bounty or will you end up in Davy Jones’ Locker? The fate of your crew and a whole new fleet are in your hands! THIS IS AN ATYPICALLY ROOM! You are not escaping but solving puzzles to collect cannon balls to play a GIANT version of the game BATTLESHIP! It's a puzzlepoluza!

Not an escape room. It’s like a game battleship except you need to solve puzzles to get cannonballs for your team to use in battleship, but after a certain amount of time they just gave us infinite cannon balls because we didn’t have enough to finish the game.
It wasn’t a real escape room, more like they gave the game of battleship a puzzle twist
Pretty good, not great

This game just didn’t play well. The set is beautiful and it clearly has so much potential, but some mediocre puzzles and the butchering of how the game of battleship actually works completely ruin the game. If the game had better puzzles and the game actually followed the regular rules of battleship it could be an excellent game. As it is, it’s a big thumbs down. 2/10. Also a warning: do not do this game with an of number of players. It will feel very unfair.

This is a great fun room. It is not your standard escape room which was fun. We played with 3 people, but the more people, the better it would be. There are a lot of puzzles. The theme is great and it is a fun game within a game. Give it a try and hopefully you will get Amber. She was a great game master.
This is a great room

This isn't really an escape room. It's a room filled with puzzles where you try to solve as many as you can to earn more cannonballs, so you can have more shots when you play Battleship. You'll split up into two teams for Battleship, but you can do all the puzzles cooperatively or as the two teams. There's a prep phase where you do a couple puzzles to get your Battleship boards unlocked. Then you do a round of puzzle-solving to earn ammo to play Battleship. After that, you repeat the round of puzzle-solving followed by the second and final round of Battleship. All the puzzles are pretty much combination lock puzzles. If you love that, great. If you want the feeling of satisfaction from escaping a room, you won't find that here. The GM says this room has replayability value, but I don't see us coming back for a second round of Battleship, even if the Battleship is a little tech-y (but not that cool or advanced).
A lot of puzzles to try to solve, if nothing else.
Set design isn't much. It's a wooden room of puzzles with combination locks lol.

Not much of a story. You're just there to solve puzzles and play the classic game of Battleship
Medium
Puzzles have different difficulty levels, from 1-3. But that's still subjective. We solved a mix of puzzles. You're not going to solve all 40+ though. We probably solved 15-20 puzzles.
Mechanical
The Battleship is the only tech in there, but it's more like 1990s/2000s tech so it's not that special. Everything else is straight up combo locks, but all variations of them!

Every time you solve a puzzle and obtain cannonballs, you're supposed to go back to the first room and load them into your team's cannon. The balls have some weight to them, too. So there's some back and forth with that, but that's about it.

Fun battleship game pitting against each other to win

Unique room would have been better if we worked together working on the quantity of puzzles

I really enjoyed this escape room because of the number of puzzles, the theming, and the set design. Be aware though that this isn’t your typical escape room where you solve puzzles and escape as a team. This is a live interactive game of Battleship and escape room puzzles where you have to solve puzzles for more materials to shoot at your opponent’s ships. I’ve played this game before when it was owned by Deceptive Games, and No. 1 Escapes still does a great job at using the same puzzles but in a different format and its delivery. I didn’t even get to finish all of the puzzles and there were some new puzzles that were added as well. We were having such an enjoyable time that we didn’t even realize that the 60 minutes was up already! Very interactive, competitive, and fun!

The gameplay was just a lot of fun! Every puzzle made sense to the pirate theming and each puzzle had different skill levels to solve. Each puzzle really made you think outside of the box.
Truly one of the best pirate themed escape rooms! I loved the wooden flooring, the background music, and the intro videos too.

A puzzle fest bonanza! Definitely a great time. Faithful to the original though I think I liked the original a tad more. If it were a 90 minute game with 3 round of solving, I feel like the game would play better.

I absolutely love this room! It’s super simple: a quick portion where you work with the other “team” before going on your way to solve as many puzzles as possible. The “story” in this room is simple and serves as a reason to solve puzzles but doesn’t add anything to the experience. This room is for puzzle lovers who love to compete against themselves and others, as the number and variety of puzzles means there is difficulty for everybody involved regardless of experience. There are still some puzzles that say “coming soon” but the ones that were there were super cool!

Loose story, served as a vessel for the competitive puzzle-solving experience.

100% agree with another reviewer that this latest version of one of our favorite puzzle-grind rooms is definitely worth doing even if you’ve done previous versions at Not Another Escape Room (still the best version) and Deceptive Games because No 1 Escapes has changed out/added more puzzles. But we also don’t like how much time is allocated to the two rounds of battleship in between the puzzle solving. It feels like we have much less time in this version to solve puzzles in the main room, which is the whole appeal of a puzzle-grind room. We appreciated that our GM gave us 5 extra minutes of puzzle time bc we rushed through the battleship portion to get it over with, but overall we still got less than 60 minutes of our paid play time which is frustrating for a puzzle-grind room. Nevertheless, I’m giving it a ❤️ because I appreciate that No 1 Escapes has preserved this gem of a room, and puzzle-grind rooms are relatively hard to find. And I do appreciate the new puzzles to refresh the room. This game is also replayable bc you won’t get through all the puzzles in one run, and inevitably your teammates will solve puzzles you never get to see. And we appreciate that they’re offering a good discount to re-do the room. But it sucks that only about 30 mins are allocated to the main puzzle solving, which makes it less appealing to return.
