Battleship - The Pirate Edition

Prepare for battle as you race to solve endless puzzles in exchange for cannonballs which are put to use in a big game of Battleship. A very large number of puzzles to keep all experience levels busy the entire time. We really appreciated that puzzles were labeled by difficulty, with harder puzzles giving bigger rewards, allowing us to strategize. Your group will be split into two teams for the battle portions of the game, but your group has the choice of working together or competing against each other during the puzzling portions of the game. They don’t offer any hints for this game, and some harder puzzles are clued more cryptically, so I’d recommend playing this game after you have a few escape rooms under your belt. The game absolutely flew by because there was so much to sink our teeth into - fastest hour ever!

This was a unique experience amongst escape rooms. It’s not your typical escape room, but rather a modified game of Battleship played by solving puzzles for ammo. It really serves as an excellent puzzle grind room. However, if all you want to do is solve puzzles (most people), you may be annoyed by having to stop to play Battleship at pre-defined intervals. 2 of our group enjoyed this room and 2 did not, so I’d say it’s a mixed bag. One member of our group didn’t like that we left with winners and losers and preferred to leave an escape room victorious with all his friends. But I appreciated that they were trying to make something different than your typical escape room here, as well as trying to make something replayable. I’d be willing to come back and play it again, just choosing to solve different puzzles than what I solved the first time in here.

This isnt an escape room just a room of small disconnected puzzles youre meant to compete for points. You also only 30 minutes with the puzzles, which I personally wasnt a fan of as the board game was very fast.

Not an escape room. It’s like a game battleship except you need to solve puzzles to get cannonballs for your team to use in battleship, but after a certain amount of time they just gave us infinite cannon balls because we didn’t have enough to finish the game.

This game just didn’t play well. The set is beautiful and it clearly has so much potential, but some mediocre puzzles and the butchering of how the game of battleship actually works completely ruin the game. If the game had better puzzles and the game actually followed the regular rules of battleship it could be an excellent game. As it is, it’s a big thumbs down. 2/10. Also a warning: do not do this game with an of number of players. It will feel very unfair.

This is a great fun room. It is not your standard escape room which was fun. We played with 3 people, but the more people, the better it would be. There are a lot of puzzles. The theme is great and it is a fun game within a game. Give it a try and hopefully you will get Amber. She was a great game master.

This isn't really an escape room. It's a room filled with puzzles where you try to solve as many as you can to earn more cannonballs, so you can have more shots when you play Battleship. You'll split up into two teams for Battleship, but you can do all the puzzles cooperatively or as the two teams. There's a prep phase where you do a couple puzzles to get your Battleship boards unlocked. Then you do a round of puzzle-solving to earn ammo to play Battleship. After that, you repeat the round of puzzle-solving followed by the second and final round of Battleship. All the puzzles are pretty much combination lock puzzles. If you love that, great. If you want the feeling of satisfaction from escaping a room, you won't find that here. The GM says this room has replayability value, but I don't see us coming back for a second round of Battleship, even if the Battleship is a little tech-y (but not that cool or advanced).

Fun battleship game pitting against each other to win

I really enjoyed this escape room because of the number of puzzles, the theming, and the set design. Be aware though that this isn’t your typical escape room where you solve puzzles and escape as a team. This is a live interactive game of Battleship and escape room puzzles where you have to solve puzzles for more materials to shoot at your opponent’s ships. I’ve played this game before when it was owned by Deceptive Games, and No. 1 Escapes still does a great job at using the same puzzles but in a different format and its delivery. I didn’t even get to finish all of the puzzles and there were some new puzzles that were added as well. We were having such an enjoyable time that we didn’t even realize that the 60 minutes was up already! Very interactive, competitive, and fun!

A puzzle fest bonanza! Definitely a great time. Faithful to the original though I think I liked the original a tad more. If it were a 90 minute game with 3 round of solving, I feel like the game would play better.
