Only Murders in the Building [Season 4]

Once the second half of the game gets going it gets better. The first part there wasn’t a critical prop in the room which is key for something else. Therefore we had to guess and luckily didn’t take much time guessing. The second half stalled a bit until we were able to figure out what it was telling us. There wasn’t anything new but it was well done as usual for the company and overall an entertaining room.

This was a good room. The puzzles were typical, nothing new or novel. We could have escaped earlier except we left the props in a spot that covered the last lock (doh)!

Rating 3.5/5 - Great for OMITB fans, but still a solid room with fun puzzles if you haven't seen the show. Pros: ➕Lots of references to the show for fans, but knowledge of the show is not required to solve anything. I am not a fan of it, but my wife watches the show so I have some familiarity. ➕Puzzles were fun and satisfying, not too easy or hard for me. Puzzles were mostly different than Heist. ➕Still had a small amount of tech, but mostly padlock and keypad based. ➕More than a single room to explore. ➕You will use your phone (they tell you that beforehand), I liked this interaction. ➕GM was friendly and helpful when needed. Room for improvement: ➖The quality of the set is not great by TEG standards (but still decent overall), though this is limited time room so I understand why they didn't put a lot of budget into it. If you have played Heist, it is basically the same layout with a different coat of paint and modified decor. I would recommend 1-3 enthusiasts, I played this solo and completed it with 15 min left and a couple of nudges used. It is a public booking but I played on a weekday afternoon so there was no one else who joined me.

Fun room. We love the TV series so loved the theme of the room. They did a great job sticking to the show and it's character. A few of the puzzles were definitely similar to The Heist. Fortunately, there were a lot of puzzles that were different and seemed harder. Some cute different puzzles that made it better and one or two puzzles that I didn't like as much or could have been done better. But overall a fun room. Especially fun for OMITB fans. Our GM Montana was great and nudged us along as needed.

Fans of the Hulu show Only Murders in the Building will get a kick out of this room! I’ve seen the 1st 2 seasons and had fun! References are all over the place, and there’s even a cameo, though don’t expect any direct cameo from the main trio. The room has the same layout as The Heist room from the same chain, but the puzzles are different. I’d actually say these are harder, but more fun, than the heist ones. Missed opportunity to have the room’s story actually be about a murder or be more authentic to the series, though. Still, I recommend it even for non fans. Grab that boom mic, drink some Gut Milk, and put on some Brazzos for this fun escape game!

This is the Art Heist game. If you have completed that room, this room will disappoint, even though it is a very cool room. They need to advertise as same room.

Definitely solvable if you haven’t seen the show, but for fans of the show lots of Easter eggs. A good entry from TEG.

A lot of fun! As a massive OMITB fan, loved this experience. Wasn’t terribly difficult, but that wasn’t not the point. Just having that IP with lots of little details from the show included in the room. My only disappointment was that there wasn’t more of Mabel and the fellas. A must do for show fans!

This was a great concept and had some fun puzzles but I had completed The Heist room right before this one and a lot of the puzzles and concepts were exactly the same and the mechanics were repeated and just repurposed which didn't create the unique Only Murders experience I was hoping for. It had some unique aspects like the text portion but overall it wasn't my favorite. The staff was really great though & I enjoyed them! Also, Selena Gomez didn't meet me at the end smh

Starting this game directly after completing The Heist was honestly a mistake. You could recognize immediately that Only Murders in the Building was a redesign of the set and gameplay of the Heist. An overall fun experience but The Heist’s gameplay and puzzle flow was much stronger. I’ve completed several The Escape Game rooms at different locations and as always the staff/games/sets are on a different level so take this with a grain of salt.
