The holidays were drawing to a close, yet your thirst for adventure kept pushing you further. A hike through a remote region, a trail forgotten on every map… It was exactly what you needed. But the villagers in the last town seemed uneasy when you asked questions, vaguely mentioning forgotten ruins, a sky forever overcast, and a path barely passable, like they’d rather avoid the topic altogether. Ruins! That alone was enough to spark your curiosity. The trail led deep into a forest where daylight barely pierced the thick canopy. Bit by bit, the fog thickened, clinging to the branches. The air grew heavier, damp with a biting chill. Beneath your feet, the ground felt denser… almost still. Then, silence fell. Absolute silence. Not a rustling leaf, not a single birdcall. As if nature itself were holding its breath. And then, in the heart of the darkness, it appeared. A towering castle, frozen in time. Its shattered towers clawed at the sky, its cracked walls seemed to watch you. The air around it felt heavier, suffocating, as if the place itself refused to let go of those who came too close. The wind had died. Nothing moved. The castle stood before you. And it was waiting.

Really fun escape room with many novel physical interactions that I've never seen in another escape room. As of early 2026, the set and props are in great shape with minimal wear, though there's a column puzzle that had some touchy interaction logic. I did this with a group of 5 people with previous escape room experience. Hints were occasionally dispensed without prompting when we were struggling too long on a puzzle. Has some really cool light/LED programming! Would absolutely recommend!

It easily ranks among my top 10, and in the top 3 in Quebec. It features a variety of puzzles, fantastic settings, and light physical challenges.

9/10 Now THIS is an escape room for the puzzle lovers out there. I would easily rank this the best escape room game in all of Canada. Unbelievable puzzle elements, exceptional tech, absolutely incredible set pieces, tech, lights, sound design, and immersion. Numerous puzzles and hands on gameplay that I have never seen anywhere else. Sauve Qui Peut prioritized tactile gameplay. Every puzzle is hands on with immense satisfaction. The horror element isn’t much. It’s more for immersion and to set the mood rather than scare tactics. I put it at 6/10 on a horror scale. I see a higher rating on the TERPECA list once more people get to experience this wonderful gem of a game.

We tried this escape room because it was on Terpeca’s list, and I can definitely see why. It was a wonderful experience full of intrigue and heart-pounding moments—time just flew by without us even noticing. I definitely recommend it.

Gameplay

The gameplay and puzzles were a blast! We were surprised a few times, and it kept us on our toes. With some puzzles, I wasn't sure why they were there in relation to the story, but they were still fun to solve.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere was really nice! Even though there were a few details in the set design that could have been a little better, it didn't take anything away from the experience. The story was really immersive.

Customer service

The staff was very welcoming, and the place always has a warm atmosphere. The GM was good, but we're used to having an introduction and conclusion that are more integrated into the game.

Ideal number of players

4

Four players is the perfect number for this escape room! Any more than that would have taken away from the fun of the puzzles and would have also made it too cramped.

I highly recommend it! This scenario definitely deserves its spot on Terpeca! For starters, the fact that there are no walkie-talkies makes it so much more immersive. It has a very strong theme, great physical challenges, and a beautiful setting—with just the right amount of jump scares!

Gameplay

The theme was really strong, and the story flowed really well! The puzzles were very interesting, even if they sometimes strayed a bit from the theme. At one point, it felt like we were on Fort Boyard—it was crazy!

Atmosphere

The decor was beautiful, everything worked perfectly, and nothing was broken. Some familiar elements, but original puzzles and an interesting hands-on aspect—something you don't usually see in escape rooms!

Customer service

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The GM's introduction was pretty basic, but the scenario was a lot of fun. In our opinion, the recap of the puzzles and the story at the end wasn't necessary and was a bit long, but it was still nice of the GM, who probably has to deal with groups that aren't as experienced!

Parking

Medium

Everything around here is paid parking. We found a street with free parking, but it’s a short 10- to 15-minute walk. It’s just good for your health!

I can confidently say The Castle of Eternal Suffering is one of my top 10 games. Rarely, if ever, does a room capture everything I would want in a game - one of a kind physicality, strong narrative, challenging yet fair puzzles, and an expansive, beautiful set. So many moments will be forever burned into my memories as some of the single best moments in an escape room. Coupled with a strong sense of place and a variety of well fleshed out characters, this is one of the few games that truly felt like being the star of an adventure film. Montreal is one of the best markets for escape rooms, and this is absolutely another crown jewel for the market.

Gameplay

Very well clued and a great balance of physicality and mental challenges

Atmosphere

Wow - massive and absolutely stunning, with so many wow moments baked into the set

Customer service

The owner was there and we loved talking with him! The gamemaster / host were absolutely excellent as well!

Particularly interesting or different

This escape game was such a treat! Worth a trip to St Jean to complete this and the high ranking is well deserved. There were many unique and surprising elements that added to the fun experience and the puzzles hit a good balance of difficulty level, even though there were some puzzles that we struggled with at first. Excellent execution of audio/visual, lighting and sound mixing/ambience, one of the best we’ve seen in North America and on par with some of the best escape games in Europe. Excellent gamemasters and transition between them over our two hour play. There was quite a bit of downtime (waiting for the storyline to finish) which was tolerable, but quite close to the threshold where we might have lost our patience. We are looking forward to coming back to play other games. Note, take heed of the warning/caution that there are physical elements to the game and some flashing of lights - they mean it. Some flashing was a bit intense for us that we just had to close our eyes. Overall a must play.

The more new games Sauve Qui Peut releases, the more you can see a clear improvement in the quality of the puzzles, as well as in the storytelling, decor, and gameplay mechanics! You can really tell how much effort the team put into this one. I loved it and can't wait to see what they have in store for their next rooms. (Also, the staff is super nice and accommodating—thanks for the weekend of 9 games, guys!)
