You and your friends thought you were only going to have a coffee at our brand-new café-boutique in the Escaparium complex! Everything seemed calm until... NB: This is an immersive experience in a prison universe, presenting puzzles in a new form. This is not a traditional escape room.

Escape Plan is a different type of game. Definitely not a standard escape room. Escaparium took what they learned from their previous experiences and dialed the notch up to 11. Very heavy actor interaction, great use of props. Live interactive experience in the truest sense. Realer than any other experience on the market, and definitely not for everyone. Really appreciate what Escaparium is doing pushing the bounds of interactive experiences. Escape Plan is vastly different than anything out there, and for that alone, it’s worth the play.

This game was unlike any escape room we had played before. It was such a clever and unique experience, requiring players to put themselves in the shoes of prisoners and having to use practical solutions and street smarts to escape. The fact that the set, the atmosphere, and the acting were all top-notch made it easy for us to really lean into the game's design. I can see why it will likely be polarising as it has no traditional puzzles and relies heavily on interactions with the actors, and that in turn depends on people's ability to immerse themselves in the story and really focus on thinking of it as a real-life situation. For our family at least, this was one of our most enjoyable and memorable escape room experiences to date.

This was a lot of fun and very different than the usual escape room. I would describe this more like an experience than an escape room, but that is not a bad thing, I had A LOT of fun here and I honestly wish it would be even longer. They could maybe just make the story a little more dynamic and be open to more ways of solving the problems. The actors we got were great and I would like to thank all of them for the experience they provided us!

No puzzles in the traditional sense, rather your puzzles are social and situational related. It is interesting and fun to channel your inner improv. At times, we were not sure what was capable in the world we were in, and although we provided seemingly logical solutions, we got shut down at times. That being said, it is well worth the experience for something unique and fun!

Agree with a lot of the other reviews. No traditional puzzles. You are definitely pushed into a direction but the fun is thinking of what to do before you are pushed in that direction. A fun change of pace if you are ploughing through traditional style rooms. Cost is more probably bc of the number of actors involved. 8.2/10

This is not an escape room. Marketing it as such is deceitful. This is participatory theater. You become characters in a story, acting out the roles that are fed to you by the other actors. There are almost no real puzzles to speak of. You're asked to devise an escape plan, but you're limited because you don't know all the rules of the in-game world, so the actors must feed them to you. And while there are multiple ways you could approach certain situations, they're limited and it all feels scripted, and you have to follow the script. It never felt like we had true agency. If you like participatory theater, performing on demand, improv, etc., this might appeal to you. If you enjoy escape rooms for the challenge of solving puzzles, it will probably not. Honestly, I feel cheated by a bait-and-switch.

Gameplay

There was almost no gameplay in a traditional sense, it was virtually all playing the role we'd been given. I kept looking for puzzles to be put before us, but they never came. There were behavioral puzzles, like "how do we smuggle a metal tool out of a space when we're going to be scanned by a metal detector", but the vast majority of in-game time was not devoted to them.

Atmosphere

As usual with Escaparium, set design and props were well done and appropriate for the theme.

Customer service
Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Not in a good way. The game requires you to roleplay, but it puts you in a position where you don't have any information and are reliant on the actors to feed you exposition. Most of your time is not spent solving puzzles, but interacting with actors to get story beats.

Story

The story was thin. We're supposed to take getting arrested seriously, but the circumstances are farcical and once inside, the rest of the narrative makes little more sense.

I feel like this is a polarizing room, where a person either loves it or does not. I’d say this room is much more of a problem-solving experience than a puzzle-solving experience.. no locks, no code combinations, no major puzzles. The experience relies heavily on interacting with the actors, so it really helps if at least a few people in your group are outgoing and willing to fully lean into the roleplay. The setting is in a prison cell with guards and other prisoners, so by nature, they may pick on you/poke fun at you. If this is not your thing, you might not like this game. I personally loved the entire experience.

Very unique experience, maybe we could’ve gotten more by being more proactive and interacting with actors more, but it was quite a fun experience.

I loved this game, the interactions were fun, the actors were engaging and overall great to be around. However, the credits song sounds like its generated by Artificial Intelligence which is why I gave it a thumbs up.

A very bad experience. Having played more than 70 escape rooms, this is by far the most disappointing one I’ve ever had. The interaction with the actors was particularly unpleasant and, above all, traumatic. I do not recommend this venue. Personally, this experience has made me seriously reconsider trying an escape room of this type again.
