28 escape rooms
I was teetering between a like and a love on this room, but ultimately decided that a couple of tech related sequences towards the end of the game pushed it over into the love category. I have previously stated that The Archive had the second best set I have seen in the Orlando area, and I now have to revise that ranking to third best. The Seventh Room may have just jumped Cinema 7 as the best I have seen. It’s a tough call as the sheer scale of Cinema 7 can’t be matched (I’ll just say that both are extremely well done and not declare a winner.) The story of The Seventh Room is fantastic, so I shall not spoil it. If you like the Tillman lore and the rivalry that has been set up with the Hardings, then you will like this plot. If you don’t care for any of that, you can still have a fun time in this room. This is touted as a scary room. I was fully expecting to be squealing and laughing in fear (a totally normal reaction I know), but that was not the case. The atmosphere and story are extremely unsettling, and there are a few really tense moments of anticipation, but I don’t think those moments pay off in anything too spooky. Frankly, as a non-horror person, that was perfect for me. I liked the suspense of it. Far more interesting than jump scares. Fear of the unknown is considered the greatest fear after all! There is what I consider some light gore in this room, which was more of a problem for me. No one else in my group was fazed by it though. There is also an Ouija board in the room, you don’t really have anyone use it traditionally, but it is there. If you are like me and will have nothing to do with them make sure you have someone on your team who is not bothered by it. The highly anticipated isolation portion (not a spoiler as you are told all about it in the pre-room spiel) was a bit of an underwhelming thing. The person we sent in there was only isolated for about 3-5ish minutes as the puzzle to get them out were very simple. Still a cool moment, we had just built it up too much in our minds. Mika was a fantastic game host as always! Hopefully we get to have her again in November when we plan on finishing out the last two rooms (assuming the new room isn’t open yet.)
Atmosphere
This is a fantastic experience in terms of immersion.
Customer service
Mika was fantastic as always!
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
There are several moments and a puzzle or two that I have never experienced in an escape room before. I am sure if you have done hundreds of rooms then you have come access them, but I can only speak towards my experience level.
Story
Yes lore!!!!! Of the rooms that are currently open at Dare 2 Escape, play this one last if you want to track along with the Tillman lore.
Difficulty
Hard
I was torn between medium and hard. I’ll say hard because anyone who gets caught up in reading every last detail will get sidetracked. If you are good at gleaning and not getting distracted, then I would say medium.
Game tech
High tech
Ideal number of players
4
We had five people, and it felt a little cramped at times.
Scary
Spooky
I wanted to say it was scary, but in reality it was not as scary as it had been built up to be. I will say that the whole set is very chilling and unsettling. Great atmosphere! I didn’t get to see one of the creepy moments because I was the last person into the second room (the ones who were first in said that while they liked the moment, it was not scary.) I was not the teammate put in isolation, but was told that it was more disquieting than scary.
Minimum age
18
Call me antiquarian, but I think the themes of this room are a bit too dark for minors.
Was anything broken?
No
Live actors
Yes
Only for about a minute of the game.
Physically active
Very
At least one person must be able to climb, kneel, lay down, etc.
Accessibility
This room is not very accessible to patrons with vision (low lighting), physical (lots of physical tasks), and/or hearing impairments (some of the audio is a bit quiet while some of the sound effects are overly loud). If you have visual, auditory, and/or touch related sensory sensitivities I would not recommend this room.
Easy to find location
Yes
Parking
Easy
