71 escape rooms
I have beef with this room. The tedium theme continued to be a hallmark of the Dare2Escape experience and really frustrated my group in this room in particular. One puzzle was reset with a piece missing that was never recovered during our game and caused the game master to have to come into the room. Eventually they had to just give us the answer because it was not possible to proceed without the piece. Another puzzle had tiny pieces which can easily be dropped and roll under any number of items in the room. Our game master also came into the room when a piece was dropped during our game. Thankfully we recovered it but the choice to include a puzzle like this in such a dimly lit room with so many places for items to roll or bounce under left me scratching my head. The scare factor was also WAY overhyped in my opinion. I’m afraid of literally everything, so I went into this experience expecting to be terrified. Our scare actor either messed up their timing or their heart just wasn’t in it. We were playing during a shift change and the GM we loved was not who we had during this portion of the game, so maybe we just fell through the cracks. Overall, the puzzles seemed unnecessary tedious and most lacked the payoff that makes me love playing rooms. This was my least favorite of the four games we played at this location.
Gameplay
We ran into some issues that caused our game to grind to a halt. A piece of a puzzle was completely missing and the game master had to come into the room twice. This really frustrated our group and took away from the immersive element.
Atmosphere
I think I had overhyped this one in my head because some elements left me disappointed. Some items are showing significant wear and tear and need to be replaced.
Customer service
Mandy is amazing! None of my issues with the game are related to her in any way.
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
There were some very unique elements to this game — some that added to the experience and others that frustrated us. I don’t understand the choice to have several puzzles with TINY pieces that can easily get dropped or lost.
