Will you escape Edward's basement? You and your friends have been kidnapped by Edward Tandy -- a cannibalistic serial killer with a fine taste for unique electronics, taxidermy, and of course human flesh. He has created a sick and twisted game of sorts in his deceased mother's home. He hopes to weed out the unintelligent and find those who are "worthy of escaping" by his late mother's standards. In THE BASEMENT, you and your team will have to employ keen communication skills, a finely tuned organizational prowess, and a general ability to keep your $h!t together under pressure if you want to survive. This is what we like to call a "funnel puzzle" where you will find numerous items and clues throughout the room. These items all come together to orchestrate your escape.

We did both the basement and the study back to back with group of 5. We had a blast and have to give credit to our gamemaster and the live actors here because they are the best we have seen. We have done 40+ rooms so far and haven’t seen puzzles and gameplay quite like this. Would like to come back for courtyard!

Really disappointed in this place. The appearance was okay but it was obvious that nothing has been updated in ages and shows a lack of attention and it smelled bad. Don't understand such high ratings.

Maybe the worst escape room experience I've had so far. The setup was great, the settings were even better. We came in knowing there's a live actor in the room and I was excited to see where the live actor was going to contribute.. The absolute worst live actor experience ever. I get they're supposed to give out hints, but honestly screaming and whining "HURRY UP, WE ONLY HAVE 10MINUTES LEFT" 200X in a row is super obnoxious and unhelpful. The puzzles are old-school and unintuitive: 4-digit codes and lock+keys everywhere. It was unfortunately a big let down for all the reviews this room has gotten.

I’d say this is one of the scarier rooms amongst the chapters. I’d also say this was more difficult than the Elevator Shaft and Study. The puzzles are great. The area is creepier than the other rooms.

We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ticket time in order to fill-out paperwork and listen to our tips and safety speech. DO NOT BE LATE, if you arrive late your tickets will not be refunded or rescheduled. No one under the age of 13 years will be admitted. Participants 17 years or younger must be accompanied by at least one adult that is at least 18 years old, and must each bring both of the following with them: 1. A copy of our liability waiver signed by THEIR parent or guardian. 2. A copy of THEIR parent or guardian's driver’s license or passport (Name on ID must match name of person who signed the waiver). Parents may also email a digital image of their ID to ids@thebasementla.com prior to their child's arrival. *ANY MINORS WHO DO NOT HAVE THESE TWO ITEMS WITH THEM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE* All four of our games are 45 minutes long, but the entire process including the pre-game speech and waivers takes approximately one hour. We have a strict NO CANCELLATION/NO REFUND policy. All sales are final and nonrefundable regardless of whether you show up for your reservation or the reasoning for you not being able to make it. Please be aware of this before booking your reservation with us. If you need to reschedule, you MUST contact us AT LEAST 3 days (72 hours) before your reservation.
