I’m so glad I got to experience this on its last day in Houston. It lived up to my Strange Bird expectations! Combined an escape room concept with a literal manhunt. Live actors involved, as well as travel. My only complaint? Mosquitoes! Iykyk Thank you Twin Alchemy and Strange Bird for this inventive and highly entertaining experience! ❤️

Reminiscent of The Nest in LA, Great Gold Bird takes you through an emotional narrative with a bit of unsolved mysteries. It’s not really about the puzzles, so take your time with the tasks. Savor it and absorb the message. The lead up to the experience was well done and the set and setting were immersive. In Houston the outdoor component was hot and muggy as to be expected. Bring extra water. But seriously, it didn’t detract from the impact of the story.

There is no way to rate this among other escape rooms because this experience is entirely unique. So take that “i must unlock this lock asap!!” type of thinking and chuck it out the window. It comes in three parts: an online portion, an ‘escape room’ mystery portion, and a final scavenger hunt outdoors. It’s definitely worth experiencing blind so we don’t want to reveal too much. It’s an emotional, INCREDIBLY immersive, and novel adventure. All the advertising around this is very accurate! The vibes are similar to video games like Firewatch, Gone Home, etc. It’s important to be wary of the time this takes—you’re looking to 3+ hours and you have to travel between locations. There’s also quite a bit of reading material and walking. We’d say this is definitely a type of media to experience at least once. This one will definitely stick with me.

I had very little idea of what to expect going in, but I didn’t expect to be met with such complex and detailed characters. I found myself gasping over new information because it was so easy to be invested in their storylines. So glad I got to do this, not only for the big hard griefs we experience but for the little ones we go through each day. So glad Strange Bird brought it to Houston!

Thrilling, moving, original. Deeply human. I loved this experience so much, I decided to bring it to Houston.
