You're trapped at the bottom of an old elevator shaft with the elevator descending above you. Water starts to fill the room from a drain in the floor. Using water, electricity, and large scale moving parts, this experience rivals attractions at major theme parks, The Elevator Shaft has been deemed one of the most technically advanced escape rooms in the country. CLOSE-QUARTERS INTENSITY What makes The Elevator Shaft special? Trapped in an 8×8 elevator shaft while the car descends from above. Water, motion, and mechanical set pieces drive a mostly linear escape built for small groups, with no live actor, but the room itself is the threat. BEST FOR SMALL GROUPS Tight space, clear puzzle track, constant pressure. Climb, crawl, and coordinate as the environment changes around you.

This room was way too small. No live actor. The ceiling is falling on you and there are water effects, which I haven’t seen before. But very few puzzles and only 1 person can access one of the areas at a time and it is kind of difficult physically to get back there. Otherwise you’re just stuck in the shaft. I absolutely would not do this with more than 4 people. The last puzzle leaves one person just standing holding wires, which made it impossible for her to help. Still a thumbs up because we did it for dead and breakfast and the whole experience was good.

my reviews for all The Basement rooms are gonna be pretty similar. pros: great sets & fun live actors in some rooms. cons: way too short (45 min limit & generally easy to finish even earlier), so not enough puzzles, the puzzles aren’t that creative, the main bottlenecks are not being able to find random things, & too many unsolicited hints from the (albeit very nice & well-intentioned) game masters. this one we did CLEAN (no unsolicited hints), and with 3 of my inexperienced friends, we were still somehow able to miss the leaderboard by just 3 minutes, so i wish there were more puzzles. one of the coolest set pieces i’ve ever seen tho

The set is incredible. Running water, moving ceiling, smoke and electrical effects, sound effects and the sliding trolley were all amazing. The puzzles, however, were just okay and you didn’t always know if you’d completed a puzzle correctly and what it may have triggered. I have such conflicting opinions on this place. I wish that the puzzles and sign posting matched the level of the set. I still have it a heart as it does stand out and have some great qualities. This is a small space so I would recommend 3-4 players.

This is one of the best escape rooms I’ve done. The set is very high-tech and immersive, the puzzles are intuitive and make sense given the setting. While the room is not incredibly challenging, the puzzles are all very engaging. The room is small, so I would only recommend this room for parties of two or three.

On the last puzzle, three of the components did not work as intended. We ended up needing to solve the puzzle through trial and error.

This one felt more unique compared to the Basement. Being trapped in an elevator shaft with the ceiling moving up and down was very cool thematically, but its movement was used only as positive feedback for progressing. It's in a small space and involved interesting trolley movement requiring you to physically pull yourself horizontally using a rope. There's water that's well incorporated into the puzzles.

Probably the worst chapter at the location. We ended up getting reprimanded for doing something because they left a door open we thought we needed to go through. Lots of frustration in this room with puzzles that didn’t quite make sense. We almost gave up part of the way through.

This is actually the one room at The Basement that gets a love from me, just because of its relative uniqueness in the wide pantheon of escape rooms out there. But for god’s sake I hope this business someday figures out they need to be a bit clearer and more organized on the hint system (this based on reading other reviews on here, and our own experience in a couple of the other rooms, heading into which two different game masters never explained the clue system or lack thereof—though we weren’t in need of any nudges in The Elevator). We did this with two and frankly I wouldn’t do it with more than that, maybe 3 at max.

We did this on an impulse after completing The Basement. All of us were disappointed. We felt like the storyline contradicts itself and didnt work very well in the continuity of the world. Additionally, there are only two main puzzles in this room and one of them did not function correctly.

Very unique take on a mostly singular room. Do note: Wear shoes you do not mind getting a little wet (~0.5-1" of water). Loved the unique system of having to traverse horizontally in the dark. Make sure you do NOT have to anything loose or in your pockets of anything you do not want to lose or get wet! Helps if you have at least one member in your group that is in relatively reasonable shape with the ability to pull yourself with only upper body strength. Very immersive with tech that as a career technician, they designed the puzzle layout with some sort of reasoning of troubleshooting like in the real world.
