You're trapped in a serial killer's study. There's an upright coffin sitting against the wall. An old rotary phone sitting on the desk rings loudly. In this linear escape room set in a regal 20th century study, you will traverse hidden passage ways and come in contact with a presence lurking in the darkness. What makes The Study special? An elegant upstairs escape with survival-horror tension and a fully linear puzzle path. This one was the best use of live actor at the Basement. Very fun. Set design on this one got better as we went, and there were a few fun ideas for puzzles. A lot of it didn’t make sense (why separate group, why separate group again) but I think they were just really commuting to wanting good communication for the group.

my reviews for all The Basement rooms are gonna be pretty similar. pros: great sets & fun live actors in some rooms. cons: way too short (45 min limit & generally easy to finish even earlier), so not enough puzzles, the puzzles aren’t that creative, the main bottlenecks are not being able to find random things, & too many unsolicited hints from the (albeit very nice & well-intentioned) game masters. this one we got 3 significant unsolicited hints, so i can’t count it as a clean escape in good conscience. probably my favorite live actor bit tho, and he was so committed haha

One of the better chapters at this location. Did a lot of laughing in this room as well. Unique puzzle that I haven’t seen anywhere else (try to get it right the first time! 🤣)
