Very fun theme, but that’s about as far as it took me. Puzzles were too easy and linear. Room looked old and not much decoration beyond just the puzzles themselves. Did love the cupcake at the end though!

You and your team enter our state-of-the-art bakery to compete in the great NYC cupcake challenge, but as the timer starts you realize that your biggest competitors have hidden all the tools and ingredients and locked you inside in order to sabotage your chances of beating them! Can you manage to find everything you need and get the cupcakes ready on time? Sugar Rush is a super fun and interactive escape game, full of sweet surprises, with puzzles that put all your senses to work! This is the second escape room I've done in NYC, but I have done about seven other escape rooms. I think 2-3 people is the perfect amount for the Sugar Rush room. My friends and I were able to split up and solve puzzles effectively and everyone was able to play an important role. We broke out with 25+ minutes to spare. The room was well-thought out and the clues made sense, so I would recommend it as a beginner escape room! The one thing I did not care for was the way the room was moderated. This was the first room I've done where you had to ask for clues through a walkie-talkie instead of just asking the room moderator out loud. It made me wonder if they could hear what we were saying. There was one point where we had the right clue but didn't know how to work the lock. I feel like we wasted a lot of time that could have been solved had the moderator written, "Hey, that's the right code but check how you're working the lock."

It was pretty easy with three people. Escaped with over half the time remaining. Great one for beginners or kids though. And two unique elements I hadn't seen before.

This was such a fun cute room! We found it really easy because it uses a lot of standard puzzles but for newer folks it would be a solid medium difficulty. A little homemade seeming, but super fun idea for story. Puzzles all fit thematically well, but the story was governed heavily by combo locks which was unfortunate.

Simple, cute, streamlined, and not too challenging. Easy-medium difficulty, and 7/10 for overall enjoyability. Although it was relatively easy and puzzles were simple, they didn't feel pointless. They stuck to the theme and all together seemed like a well-rounded set of puzzles. All together, the room felt like it had the right amount of challenge. It's really cute how the room incorporated the smell and taste senses into some puzzles. I can see how this would be very engaging for children or a good escape room to do for a group who is new to escape rooms. The story made sense, and the puzzles all stuck to the theme. Nothing to complain about. Overall, I'd recommend. Although it was on the easy side, it really was not a bad experience, which I find surprising because it can be hard to create that right balance for a room.
