Permanently Closed - During the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, criminal mastermind and first documented serial killer H.H. Holmes built and operated a labyrinth-style hotel on the corner of South Wallace & 63rd Street. It was designed as a killing trap, whereby his guests became murder victims. Known as The Murder Castle, it is believed Holmes killed over 200 people there. So...we invite you to check in any time you like. But will you ever leave? That's up to you!
109 escape rooms
This was my very first escape room. At the time it was so much fun even without escaping but looking back and being able to compare it to other rooms it was pretty low-quality. Production was basically props in an office space, zero immersion. At one point you solve all the puzzles in one room and then they escort you across the hall to the 2nd room. Most of the puzzles and riddles seemed unrelated to the theme. There was an interesting aspect—I t’s been the only escape room I’ve done where the GM is inside the rooms with you. Despite all of the negatives it was still my first entry into escape rooms and holds a special place in my heart.
