Aokigahara, also known as the Suicide Forest, is a 35 square kilometre forest that lies at the northwest base of Mount Fuji in Japan. It is a dense, eerie forest. It's reputation is a site for suicides and has created a haunting atmosphere, with remnants of hanging ropes, scattered personal belongings, and corpses littering the forest floor. The silence is deafening, the darkness is suffocating, and the trees seem to twist and contort as if alive, drawing in unwary travelers and tempting them to join the countless lost souls who have perished within the forest's depths. You and your friends are deep in the forest and must escape before consumed by darkness. You have 75 minutes. Goodluck.

This is truly the worst escape room I've ever played. A multitude of tech errors including things opening early and others not opening at all. The storyline is based in a suicide forest and features a skeleton hanging on a noose which is highly offensive and somehow the least of this room's problems. Nearly every single puzzle is either broken or doesn't make any sense, requiring huge leaps in logic or are genuinely unsolvable without being told how to do it. I don't want to just hate on this room but I am struggling to come up with any positives. It flexes its 1% pass rate which is not due to the game being particularly challenging but more the puzzles simply do. not. make. sense. The name of the missing girl doesn't even stay consistent between the spoken story and the in-game audio. Our Game Master was the only shining light in this experience, she was very nice and super apologetic about the tech problems encountered in the room. Oh also there's not even a cabin. Don't play this room. Not even out of morbid curiosity.

Very difficult to find any positives in this one. Right up there with the worst in Victoria unfortunately, littered with non-sensical puzzles, broken tech, and an insensitive theme, this really is one of those escape rooms that shouldn’t exist. The Great Escape have a great location, sizeable venue and market themselves quite well which is why it’s just baffling that this quality of room isn’t altered or even addressed. Words like “extremely difficult” and “hardest room in Vic” are thrown around as a selling point but really, are there to simply mask the room’s many many shortcomings. I honestly felt bad for our GM as she did all she could to apologise for the continuous stream of tech problems that arose and provide hints for puzzles that didn’t make any sense. There’s also no cabin in the “Cabin in the Forest” escape room, I mean…? Just stay away from this one.

Wildly insensitive to have an escape room based around the real suicide forest in Japan.. pretty gross. Do not play or encourage rooms with this material.

Players are not provided with the necessary tools (except for torch) in this room such as writing material or calculator, despite this room requiring players to remember long sequences and solving difficult maths equations. Puzzles were not self explanatory or logical and at times required guess work and trial and error.
