all sizzle, no steak. cool set pieces and lots of interesting mechanics and tech, but not intuitive puzzle. you find yourself just trying stuff for the hell of it and somehow that works.
game play was odd and didn't flow.
set design was good but some things were broken, others seemed unfinished, still others were unnecessary and distracting.
very nice game master but he did keep telling us a different time than was on the timer

Didn't love the beginning or end of the room but the Samurai portion was very immersive and cool set design.

We loved this room! It was odd, quirky, and fun. No locks and some really different puzzles. This would be a perfect game for two folks who love escape rooms or three folks looking for something different. Loved this room, I can understand how some folks don’t love it but we did

Don’t be like me. Don’t misunderstand the concept of the room as being a mishmash of elements from both cyberpunk and samurai genre time periods. Unlike the company’s Steampunk Alice room, which is a fun mishmash of juxtaposed ideas, Cyberpunk Samurai is segregated into different parts based on both genres, but not both genres at once. The samurai segment was beautiful and I would have loved to see an ENTIRE room based on it. On the flip side, the puzzles in the cyberpunk area, particularly some that cleverly split the group, are astounding. I wouldn’t have minded seeing a fully-fleshed out room based on this anarchist dystopian future. Although I enjoyed both parts very much, the mixed but separated genre ideas (which of course there is a story reason for) made me feel like I was only getting bite-sized tastes of greatness instead of a full gourmet escape meal extravaganza. Don’t make my mistake and assume this is a room about dystopian robot samurai, but try it out if you are a fan of both!

A prop wasn’t working reliably for us, so the GM “magically” threw in a replacement prop, which also didn’t work well? I think the GM might have just manually activated the puzzle, which we knew how to figure out anyway

Overall the room design was done well but didn’t really feel like the theme made sense. If theme doesn’t really matter to you, then great because the puzzles also didn’t make sense. Also, most of the game mechanics didn’t work. Drove an hr for this and was disappointed.

Cyberpunk Samurai had very unique set design and theming from any game we’ve played. There was one moment that wowed us and was pretty fun. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I want to come back here as one high mechanical puzzle that we were very excited to solve was broken and when we notified the game master they just progressed us to the end of the game, which was so disappointing because it was the final puzzle. I wish this was fixed but got the impression it’s broken a lot. The game master seemed overwhelmed because check in was slow and I’d expect them to proactively help us if they see the game is broken but didn’t do anything until we asked for help when we couldn’t get it to work. Game master also didn’t offer to take our photo which is something we expect to see. I will say this location has one of the best lobbies in all of LA!

The final puzzle was broken, which was incredibly disappointing because it was a very dynamic set piece. Instead of fixing it, we just got progressed to the end scene when we told our gamemaster. Bummer.

This room was a ton of fun and had never done a theme like it. Maze Rooms always has beautiful set design and this room was stunning. Puzzles were challenging but not hard. Lots of fun high tech features made this room interesting and extremely immersive!

cyberpunk samarai is such a well thought out room. i was left in awe from the beauty of the room, as well as the complexity of the room’s designs. as for the puzzles, they were very interactive and i really enjoyed figuring them out. all i can say is do not miss out on this experience. it is one of a kind and one that you simply cannot miss.

We had a fun time with this room. This Maze room location has one of the best thematic lobbies that we have encountered and the room itself did not disappoint. This is one of of favorite rooms that we have done by this company as we have found that they can be hit or miss with their rooms.
We all loved the set which was super dynamic and well crafted.
