You are Robert Montgomerie, the only remaining direct heir to the Kildermorie Estate and the Montgomerie family fortune. You’re attending a family gathering, hosted by your Grandfather, Hugh ‘Monty’ Montgomerie, the 9th Earl of Kildermorie to celebrate the dawn of the new Millennium. As the guests raise a toast, a scream fills the air…Your Grandfather is found dead in the library - and it looks like MURDER! Suddenly, you’re bundled into the Drawing Room and the door is locked. Confused, you bang on the door and call for help until it dawns on you... that as the direct heir, all fingers are pointed at you! You realize you’ve been framed! But who would want to kill your Grandfather… and why? You overhear the Police being called, but know that, as the Kildermorie Estate is hidden deep in the Scottish Highlands, it will take them 60 minutes to arrive. I have been to a different escapology in San Fransisco and I love their games but I’m gonna be honest this one to me was kind of frustrating just because the puzzle flow wasn’t very great. And the hints they gave were hints that I was already on and the hint didn’t really help sometimes. The room itself was good and the them was on par but I think some of the puzzles were a little bit older and could be revamped. There is a bar there which was pretty cool but this room was not my favorite

Gameplay

Honestly many of the puzzles were not as clear than other escape rooms I have been to and some puzzles flowed and others didn’t and had many things associated with a single puzzle to get the answer

Atmosphere

The atmosphere was very in theme. Some of the puzzles it self could be revamped and maybe touched up. Once of the puzzles is very finicky and I actually took something out without solving it but I continued to put it back and solve the puzzle

The staff was great. There is a bar there and I think their service is good

We were running late and they started the clock after 5 minutes (which is pretty standard). We expected a higher number of clues with more locks, but it was still engaging and fun. With 2 people, we needed a couple of hints and got out in a little less than 40 minutes.

Some of the puzzles are too clunky in terms of mechanics and take long to solve once you figure them out. It’s not that they were difficult or very clever

Visual theming of this room was great, but some of the puzzles just seemed disconnected and left us needing some clues. Very immersive room.

We did two rooms here and ate at their restaurant in between. Love the concept of the combination of bar/restaurant/escape room. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic and cared! Exceeded expectations for a franchise. This room was well layed out. I loved a couple of the more unique uses of "furniture" in their puzzles. There was one math problem that got us caught up.

Started off by not finding the initial clue. Wasted 10+ minutes until we needed a hint. Everything went quick. We ‘cheated’ and shaved some time off by not having to decipher the wooden blocks.

My family had fun. The mechanics were outstanding. I really appreciated how well the puzzles were built and how flawless the mechanics operated. I get so bummed when I’m in a room with shotty mechanics.
