A woman named Josie has recently passed away, leaving behind a storage room filled with decades of collected memories and cryptic secrets. Remnants of her entire life are all here in one place - left for you to discover. As a young girl growing up in the 1960s, Josie was gifted a tape recorder and began documenting every part of her life. But in her old age, she has become almost unrecognizable, warped by the tragic events of her past. The Nest is an intimate, live experience for two audience members at a time, combining elements of immersive theater, narrative video games, serialized podcasts, and escape rooms into a new way to experience a story. Equipped with a flashlight, search through personal effects, explore your surroundings, and listen to audio cassettes to piece together the dramatic narrative of Josie's life.

This is not an escape room, but it uses escape room tropes to walk you through the story of a woman's life. In doing so, you become part of her life in ways that I won't spoil. Liv was a wonderful host, and we were very moved by the experience. Unique, unmissable, life altering. Two people is the perfect size for this.

I absolutely loved this experience. We had four in our group and it was definitely the max player count, but everyone enjoyed their time. This experience left a lasting impression and one that I continually recommend to others.

This is not your traditional escape room - it’s another perfect immersive experience by Hatch Escapes. Beautifully detailed from end-to-end. No stone goes unturned. Must. Do. 💕

More ephemeral experience that requires you to be present than an escape room. Emotionally affecting and not one to speed run. Incredible and made me want to cry, highly recommend!

This is straight up incredible art that makes you stop and truly think and reflect. Absolutely incredible.

This is art, not an escape room the way you think. This masterpiece shifted my emotions in such a deep, impactful way that it took several hours to process afterwards. There are tissues available at the end, but I definitely needed more once I got in the car, so bring extra.

This show broke me apart, and by the end of the epilogue had gently put me back together again. See this, but budget time to process afterwards. My deepest thanks to the creators for this experience.

This escape room isn’t really an escape room as you’re not really escaping from anything. Rather, you’re uncovering layers of a story. It was very well written and a tear jerker. Although it’s not your typical escape room, I would recommend this room and everybody and anybody. It won a TERPECA for a reason.

The Nest is an emotional rollercoaster that surrounds you with the ephemera of a person’s life as you experience the highs and lows of their story. In terms of puzzles, there’s maybe two or three interactions that qualify; however, if you are looking for a game, you’re missing the point. The set is abstract, ever-morphing, deeply immersive (smells, smoke, and a variety of intimate scenes), and yet truly easy to follow. Your next step is obvious, but the experiences that await you never are. The Nest marks a way forward for escape rooms: emotion catharsis and truly impactful lessons delivered through immersive environments and intentional interactions. This should really be saved for one person or a close couple. Leave groups for the escape rooms. You may cry. You’ll almost certainly feel something profound. You will definitely remember The Nest long after you visit.
