If you like Stranger Things, you will love this room. And no basic locks in this one. A little on the easy side, but lots of fun.

This game was alright. It is definitely based on Stranger Things but it doesn’t require any prior knowledge of Stranger Things to be successful. The puzzles themselves are relatively simple but the connections in between puzzles aren’t always obvious. I felt as though the puzzles weren’t as exciting and involved as I would prefer. But I liked the way that the ending had a very clear objective and climax to the story!
This game was relatively linear and very doable with a party of 3. We didn’t always know what puzzle we were supposed to go to next (the connections weren’t always intuitive) so there were times that the gameplay lagged. The game master had to give us nudges in the right direction a couple of times because some of the flow lacked clarity.
The game was cute and made sense for the theme. None of the set dressing absolutely blew my mind but it was well-done enough to feel immersive.
The game master was kind and gave us nudges in the right direction when we needed it.
The game was different from other escape rooms I’ve done in the past BUT it was heavily based on stranger things. Considering this, I would say that the game was unique as an escape room but the plot itself was relatively familiar.
We didn’t realize it was Stranger Things themed when we booked it but the connection was apparent once in the room. Having watched Stranger Things, the room felt very on theme. That being said, it would not hinder your ability to complete the room if you haven’t seen Stranger Things. If you aren’t familiar with the show, you might just need to pay more attention to the plot so that you understand what is going on.

The puzzles themselves were relatively easy. Making connections between the puzzles and figuring out what to do next was much harder in my opinion.
There was a mix of physical locks and other means to unlock things. In my opinion, this room felt more mechanical than high tech.

3-4 would be an ideal amount for this game.
Spooky
Somewhere between not scary and spooky. There aren’t really any jump scares so any adult should be fine in this room. Younger participants may be intimidated by the latter half of the room.

On the condition that the kid visiting isn’t easily creeped out.

A couple of puzzles required getting closer to the ground so at least 1 or 2 members of your party should be comfortable kneeling.
As long as 1-2 people in your party can kneel and get into smaller spaces, the room should be relatively accessible for participants with mobility restrictions (noting that some areas are still narrow and/or cramped). Additionally, one puzzle utilized color and another puzzle utilized sound.

Solid 3.5/5 - 4/5 stars. I think my expectations for this escape room were too high after having heard so many people recommend this and say that it's like the best escape room. It's not a bad room, and the rooms are immersive, but there were more physical puzzles (finding things, placing them in certain places, etc.) than brainy puzzles (riddles, etc.). I think I would've liked some more logic-based puzzles. Some of the puzzles seemed like they didn't connect with the story too well. I completed the room with a friend feeling a bit unchallenged. It also might've felt easier than other rooms I've tried because there are unlimited hints and the game master's voice did pop in a lot asking if we needed a hint, which made the experience feel less immersive. The game master was very sweet and attentive though. The climax of the escape room / story was a pretty cute idea, and I do appreciate that there was that "climax," which not all escape rooms have.
A bit dark, so we had to use our phone camera
Very friendly. Felt like a team player.

If you have to pick between rooms, choose this one. Some people were turned off by the stranger things theme; I’ve never seen an episode and it didn’t hamper my experience at all. So from the top, this room was just a collection of really clever puzzles. I wouldn’t say any of them were too hard, or made any thematic sense, but they were just an absolute joy to do. For example, putting X item on Y object shouldn’t progress the plot at all… but it was so much fun that I dot even care. The room was also very spacious and in New York, that’s a welcome asset. 9.5/10 and one of my top 5 I’ve ever done.
Really fun puzzles. None were too complex, but the point is to have fun; not to decipher code
Great sets. Unlike corporate rooms, this one had lots of love and a bunch of detail

If you’re a Stranger Things fan, you will definitely enjoy this escape room. The whole set had so many Easter egg moments! There were some props and puzzles that we have never encountered anywhere else and also played a part in the immersive experience. My partner has never watched Stranger Things before, but still enjoyed the storyline of this room. A lot of the puzzle sequences blew our sci-fi nerd brains. I would highly recommend watching at least Season 1 of Stranger Things first to truly appreciate all the little details in Montauk Project. 10/10!

My fiancé and I have played both of their rooms and we love them. They’re well designed, interesting and overall just enjoyable. The rooms are intricate and everything is well-matched for the room and the time period. The staff is also welcoming and are super supportive giving clues while you’re in the room.

Great themed and some fab puzzles at the start. We found the final area a little disappointing

Loved most of the puzzles, some of which I had never seen before. I do wish it had been a bit less scattered and more streamlined of an experience though

Starts out innocently and gets a little "strange" later. I would say these puzzles really aren't too difficult. Breezed through the first two rooms pretty easily, and got stuck a bit on the last room which ruined our flow. Loved the stranger things theme and how similarly they tried to tie in the series. The puzzles didn't require too much thinking in my opinion, but I enjoyed how they presented the puzzles for you to figure out. All-in-all, cute theme and fun puzzles. The last room just felt like it needed some help because a lot of the puzzles needed some guidance..
Flowed well up until the last room for my team.
Cool production! Felt a little dirty for some rooms, but the room designs were really cool.
Nice GM.

The Stranger Things theme was different than the usual escape room themes in my opinion, which added neat elements to the game play.
Didn't really follow a major story line, but if you've ever watched stranger things, you already understand what's happening.

Pretty cool immersive homage to Stranger Things. There are some things I haven't seen before despite doing so many rooms. I still don't love that the GM has to trigger the unlocking for some of the puzzles, but this room didn't feel like it had a lot of those moments like Ghost Light.
