Absolutely incredible room!

There’s no question that the set design is amazing and top tier. However escape rooms are about theme AND puzzles. There’s so much reading involved it pulls away from the excitement. And there’s a puzzle that’s left to chance which ate up so much time. This room should be minimum 75 minute room. When everyone HAS to rely on a journal, it’s best to give every single person a journal, not just two people. It bottle necks us like crazy.

While it isn’t scary, it is a bit spooky. It’s more spooky in the beginning in my opinion. Anyways, it was a fun room and my group enjoyed it!

Another insane production value game from the 13th gate. The set was AMAZING, but I did feel like some of the puzzles were a bit lackluster, with one particular puzzle not fitting in with the theme/time period at all. Still, your mind will be blown with the reveals within the game and it is SO worth it!

This was more of an Indiana Jones themed room (in fact, several chords from the theme played at the end). If you've done Red Giant in LA, the theme was very similar, though Anubis edges out Red Giant for mind-blow factor. This room, like the other two, had very high production value. Like a movie set or ride at Disneyland. But instead of watching from a ride car, you're interacting directly with everything. Really cool room with some very cool effects. This room, too, had something you had to reuse more than once, but at least it told you as part of the game. Overall The rooms really are as great as everyone says they are. Easy five stars. I have to bump my rating down to four, though, based on some of the policies that resulted in a bit of a tarnish on my experience.

Amazing set design. Fun puzzles (mostly). Almost great. This would be an amazing escape room if it were 2 escape rooms. It is, on purpose, too difficult / long. We made it to the last room when time expired. There were 12 more non-linear puzzles in the final room. The game master told us that most people don’t even make it to the last room. Some groups come back 3 or 4 times in order to complete it. This is a feature, not a bug. Great fun, but if you want to see the ending, be prepared to play it multiple times. Biggest complaint- there is a jigsaw puzzle element that cannot be circumvented. This is 100% a time sink and serves no other purpose and was in no way fun for us. Imagine everyone sitting on the floor doing nothing while 1 or 2 other people struggle with a jigsaw puzzle for 15 minutes.

Just disappointed. Agree that the production value of this (and all their rooms) is top notch- they have a ton of space and use it well, and put a lot of money and effort into the sets. But the overall experience is just lacking- the puzzles are thoughtful and “techy” enough, but nothing impressive or novel. It feels very high volume- the staff is nice, but it’s like they’re ushering you through and going through steps. Having traveled to New Orleans specifically for these rooms, it just didn’t live up to the hype.

At 13th Gate, this was my first game played. It was insanely difficult for us but the production value is out of this world! The revelations are insane and the first 10 minutes really sets the mood and you immediately forget you’re just playing an escape room. I probably should have had more rest before playing this game… it was mentally draining in a good way. Be ready to think a lot and try to avoid being distracted by the insane production value!
