The newest adventure of la Porte Secrète to date, and it didn't disappoint. The intro was nicely done (with a bit of weird plot twist, but we'll let that slide) and the adventure starts in a unexpected setting. The adventure takes you through King Arthur's realm, and it feels like it keeps on going. There are a few special effects in this room, and even though they are quite unique for an escape room, we felt it was slightly imperfect, and such things need to be perfect in order to keep the player's attention from the technological aspect. The decoration is this room's main positive point: the sets are gigantic, and you feel immersed. All in all a very nice game, which could use some love on the details, but still a must play.

We didn't know what to expect from this game at first, since the description is quite vague. We were getting "film noir" vibes, but there were also quite big references to Tower of Terror at Disneyland Paris. So we entered the hotel with an open mind. As usual with la Porte Secrète, the decoration was magnificent. We went from room to room and were sometimes really impressed with what they managed to install. Sadly, the audio quality sometimes tarnished that amazement. The puzzles were fun, but didn't always feel like they were there to make us progress in the story. A very fun detail though, is that the solving of the last puzzles triggers different endings, depending if you're right or wrong. Overall a fun experience, even though I would have gone for one of the two themes mentionned above instead of trying to combine them.

This was the first horror game we played in Athens, and it immediately became one of the most immersive games we ever played. Everything is great; the actors, the decoration, and the story blend together and a horrifying but beautiful story. We played it with only 2 players, and this can get quite intense. However, you get some rest at some points in the story, and this feels nice and gives you time to take a breath. The staff was very kind afterwards and took the time to answer our questions.

This room gets described as atmospheric, and that is a very good description: from the moment you enter, you get swept into the little town of Grithin Gifford. The set is very beautiful, and the music helps with the tension. There is an actor in this room, and while his role is to help you and to tell the story, the latter didn't really come over since his English accent wasn't very good. It was relatively easy to understand him when he was giving hints, but during cinematics, with the music blaring at top volume, it wasn't. This led to us not fully understanding the story, and felt quite awkward during the final dialogue with him. The riddles are in general fitting with the story. However, as with a lot of rooms in Athens, some riddles have an extra layer on top which makes it unnecessarily hard and less logical. This kind of riddles is limited here, but there are a few. All in all a nice room to play, but take the time to ask for clarification after your game if you didn't get everything. This will allow you to fully appreciate the experience.

This room was okay. Nothing too fancy, but nice puzzles. The welcome and game hosting was far from perfect: we had to stay outside until the exact hour of our booking even though there were staff members relaxing in the reception that clearly saw us. When we were let in and they asked us if we played escape rooms before, we were pushed into the room without any kind of explanation, not even about the game itself. The game progressed well, even though we had the feeling the game host was a bit too eager to intervene. For example, he told us we had already used something, while I was simply explaining to my partner how I solved a puzzle. This felt unnecessary in my opinion, since we weren't stuck at all; but it removed any immersion. The end part was quite frustrating, since we first had to listen to an outro in Greek before it switched to English. Since we couldn't understand the Greek, we solved the puzzle by ourselves, the door openened and we got out. The host told us to get back inside, only to listen to an incomprehensible audio bit. All in all a underwhelming experience.

The biggest asset of this escape room is its set: the decoration is beautiful, and the light and sound effect are very well executed! The story is simple, though it keeps you busy for the whole time you spend in the game: you enter a store that opens magically once a year on Halloween, and you'll find out the rest as you go. Our biggest issue with the game was the clarity of the spoken text: we often had to ask the GH to repeat themselves, and this was partly due to the loud music in the room. The fact that we could hear other people in the corridor was also quite disturbing, especially since there was a big children's birthday party going on in the lobby. This kept us from being totally immersed. Play this game if you want to play a spooky (non-horror) game with a great atmosphere!

This room is original in the fact that the game takes place in an elevator. While it is hard to keep players occupied in such a small space, Escapepolis manages to do so! It was a fun game with some interesting puzzles, but some of them were also needlessly hard: when you think you figured the riddle out, it adds another layer that you had to guess at yourself. I'm all for difficult riddles, but "guessing" is not the way to make a room harder. Overall a fun room to play, especially for that price, but not a must-play in my opinion.

This is what you can expect from a big escape room chain. The welcome was not personal (we had to wait for a second group so that we could be briefed together) and our briefing was read to us from a piece of paper. In the room itself, the puzzles were nice, although not very original. The technical elements however were really bad: the music was starting, running for 30 seconds and then stopping again. We also got a unneeded hint 2 minutes into the game, and at one point two audio fragments were playing at the same time. Once we finished, we were greeted by our game host who simply said "You already paid so you can go." which is a weird thing to say to customers. All in all, a fine escape room for beginners, if all the problems fixed above are fixed.
